Yeah, best to just go along with it mate, otherwise you just get labelled as an uncaring pig. (And I'm talking as a father here.)
Just say something like:
"Ooh doesn't s/he look like (mother/father - actually. no, make it the MOTHER)!?"
"Aah, isn't s/he bonny!"
"Hasn't s/he got lovely eyes/hair/cheeks/smile?" (Just pick one, don't say all of them, you'll come across as being insincere).
"Is s/he sleeping OK?"
Then just stare admiringly for a second and say 'aaahhh!'
Then you can sit back down and get back to work.

Some women do, some women don't. Just the same as men. I agree with the person above that said it's probably due to women generally having better developed social skills. That's probably why you think that all women love babies when people bring them in to work - they are just better at responding in a socially appropriate fashion.

lol. Yes its a maternal and hormonal thing. But your also
right that some people over do it with bringing their kids
to work. And you don't have to fake cooing and stuff.
Its alright if you aren't into babies and kids and stuff.

Not sure but I work at a peds office and I love babies....I think they look alot differently and they all have different personalities even from a newborn stage...maybe this is because I am a woman and made to be a nurturer...or maybe horomones who knows...

The sad thing is that men are beginning to behave that way. Recently a colleague brought his baby son to work to show everybody.
My inclination was to tell everybody to work an extra ten minutes that evening to make up for the time wasted.

I don't think all women do, but it is so socially unacceptable for a woman not to be crazy about babies that one has to conform. I don't like them and avoid them; and tend to avoid mothers and motherly types as babies are all they ever talk about.
I don't see what the big deal is either.

We enjoy it because there is nothing as innocent, pure, precious, and wonderful as a little bitty baby. It reinforces the fact that God loves us and that he continues to bless us daily.
And I have to disagree with your statement that they "all look the same". That's not true. Some are cute, some are ugly, and some are beautiful. But I will say that when I see a newborn, it's normally hard for me to tell who they look like. It takes a little time for them to grow into their features.

well no they do not all look the same and no its not hormonal, its actually a reflex, its called the cute reflex, its toward things that are small and round, i saw it on the news, but if you don't like it, don't do anything, pretend to be busy or something, like on the phone.
