I believe your supposed to wait awhile longer on barley but you should check with the pediatrician. My daughter was only 3 and a ahalf months when her dr put her on cereal because she was hungry and she had rice first then oatmeal then barley. So if she's not handling the rice ask the dr about oatmeal.

you should call and ask her doctor since she is allergic then you should just double check before you give her anything. My son hates and hated rice cereal so I had to use oatmeal. I would wait on that until she is atleast 5 months.

I agree with the previous post in that since she has allergies, you need to discuss this with her doctor. There is nothing wrong with feeding babies cereal before 6 months of age - it was done for years. Both my children were on cereal at the age of 3 months old. They were just too hungry otherwise.

Again...ask your pediatrician to be sure since she's shown allergies to rice cereal, which is considered the easiest on their systems.

at 4 months old she may not be ready for cereal, that may be why her stomach was upset, try again at 5 or 6 months.

I bought cereal in the baby food jars...... there are different kinds ........My daughter really likes them.......some of the different kinds are ....oatmeal with applesauce and bananas and rice cereal with applesauce.....my daughter didn't like the plain rice or oatmeal cereal she refused to eat them.......I talked to her doctor and that is what he told me to get her........my sister has a 4 month old son and he is the same way so I recommended the cereal in a jar ........she asked her doctor if it was ok to give him that and he said that between the ages of 4-6 months it is fine! Maybe you could try that to see if it fits her better!

You should not be feeding her any solids before at least 6 months. Rice cereal is the safest, generally, and has the least possibility of any allergic reactions.

Is she breastfed, or formula fed?

Since she has food allergies, you should really talk to her doctor. They will probably tell you to just wait on cereal until she is a little older.

Try rice first. I started giving my son baby food at 3 months old, he sleeps better and is less fussy.

Just because the books say 6 months does not mean that it fits every baby. My baby was 11 lbs 7 oz at birth. He was a big baby and obviously formula wasn't satisfying him completely. It's all about trial and error.

Per AAP guidelines, I would wait until at least six months since it's pretty apparent she's an allergy-prone baby.
