please no sarcastic comments this is a matter i am taking very seriously and i just want to take the right steps to to find out if the suspicion is true without giving the suspected molester a heads up and give him the chance to run or come up with a good story.

this is a very mild and unlikely suspicion and im pretty sure im just being paranoid. The evidence i found could have come from a number of things other than sexual abuse. i just wanted to know this in case i found more compelling evidence in which case i would immediately contact authorities myself. If i wasnt a very concerned parent i would not be asking this.

most states require that the hospital, or doctor contact social services and/or the police. I mean why would anyone not want this to happen. I would call the police before I even took the baby to the hospital. if only to keep me from killing the bastard that did it.

They should. If a child is being abused teachers, doctors, day care providers, and I believe even clergy are required by law to report it. That means if they have any reason to believe a child is in danger or being hurt that have to call the police and the police are required to investigate. This is for the protection of our children and just beacuse the police investigate doesn't mean someone will go to jail. A teacher may notice a large bruise on a child but upon investigation they could find out the child was hit by a ball at baseball practice and no charges would be files. But yes the hospital will report it.

If you think that a baby is being molested, she needs to be checked out by medical personnel. They are mandated reporters of child abuse, or of any type of crime. They will report it to the proper authorities. The doctors can better decide if the child has been abused. They look for certain things that us lay people wouldn't see. If they find evidence that the child was abused, all of that will be documented in great detail, and will aid in any prosecution in the case. If it is inconclusive, there is still a report on file to refer back to.
Ultimately, you want to make sure that the child is safe. Taking her to the hospital can help her be safe.

Yes the hospital is required by law to report any kind of abuse, but you probably know as I do, that some cases slip through the crack or never get looked into. You can call social services yourself anonymously to see if the case has been reported. If it is confirmed that the child has been abused I hope the guy gets busted. This is a sick, sick thing to do. Especially to one so small that can't even fight back. You are a very good person for taking this serious. Children need our help to keep them safe and remove them from danger. Good luck. I would like you to keep me updated if you can.

I also live in Ohio and the hospital is required by law to contact the police regarding any type of abuse. If you suspect it, I wouldn't waste anytime and get the baby to the hospital, pediatrician for a full evaluation.

Most of the time in any case where there is any signs of abuse or neglect it is the hospitals responsibility to report it to the children and families department as well as any local law enforcement if deemed necessary. I hope this doesnt in any way change your decision because even a child that young could be scarred for life by any type of abuse.

I work as a social worker, it is the law that doctors are REQUIRED to report any suspected abuse. Usually a CPS report is made, which goes to the county DHHR & they investigate. But this should not stop anyone from getting help for a child that may have been a victim.

when it comes to somethng like this you should go straight to the hospital and police, especially if you dont know.
this is a SERIOUS situation. your baby is 10 months old, only a sick pervert does that type of thing and im sure you dont want to put your child in that type of danger.
go immediately, and if nothing has happened no one will be nervous or afraid of your decision.
and in the end you'll feel better about putting your childs interest and safety first.
who cares what others think, (in your family, lets day).
if you think its happening, GO.
you have these feelings for a reason!!!!!
this is about your child, not them, or anyone else.
better safe than sorry.

Yes, but not only the police but also social services, this is a very, very disgusting crime, the person that you think is doing this, and if you are would be arrested. Just don't have that person that you think is doing it come to the hospital with you, Good luck and i hope you are just being paranoid. (not being mean, just hoping that nothing like that happened to your child)

Yeah I think that they would contact the child protective services...and i think they will take the kid away from the hom until fully investagated...and if it isn't that close of a family member like they are not living in your home then I don't think they will they will ask for you to file a complaint on them then they will go further into it....and I am sorry to hear about that people these days are sick i mean sick...I think that they all need to be shot in the head if convicted of that crime you know what I mean...Hope I helped you out
