I'm assuming she is over 6 mo. If that's the case, she can have it. I think if she's acting ok, I wouldn't worry about it. Babies are going to have many bumps/bruises...don't use medicine if you don't have to.

It depends on how old she is. Try putting an ice pack on it first to see if the swelling goes down. Motrin won't help the swelling go down, but if it is hurting her it will help that. If she hit her head hard watch for signs of a concussion, Nausea, confusion, a loss of balance (more so than she already has). Good luck.

No, Tylenol only. Ibuprofen is contraindicated for head injuries.. Little kids fall and bump their heads all the time, but if it turns out to be a serious injury, the Ibuprofen can make it worse.
However, with any head injury, always look for the following symptoms,
#1 crying that doesn't stop after a long period of time.
#2 vomitting after the injury.
#3 seizures
Any of the above could be an indicator of a serious head injury and the child should be taken to th ER immediately.
I know it's more than you asked, but I think all parents should know this.

The swelling should go away. and the little red bump. its going to be a little puffy. but do not give her any Motrin. because it will make her sleep and that's something you don't want after her hitting her hair if she trys to go to sleep don't let her for about an hour or so. If she takes long naps make sure you wake her once an hour

You should first try an ice pack to see if that will relieve some of the pain and swelling. If that doesn't work, or she's stubborn like my kids the Motrin should be fine to give her. As long as you follow the dosage on the Infant Motrin and don't overdo it.
But if she shows signs of distress: nausau, headache, loss of balence, or is lathargic, call your doctor ASAP.

Why medicate if she isn't complaining? We tend to over medicate in this country. The forehead is built extra strong just for this reason; to take bangs during toddlerhood. I'm a great believer in arnica, a topical anesthetic that is not absorbed by the body except just at the site of injury, but if she isn't complaining, I wouldn't even use that.

as long as there are not any signs and indications of a concussion (dizziness, lethargy, nausea, etc.) chilly for the 1st 24-40 8 hrs to shrink the blood circulate to the section. After the 1st day change to warmth to improve the blood circulate to extra without delay heal the bruise. My boy is in basic terms over 2. you have have been given a brilliant form of bumps and bruises forward of you. in basic terms examine up on the signs and indications of recommendations injury and keep and eye on him. babies are impressive whilst it includes taking a spill.

My first daughter was terrible with that. Health stores have a cream called arnica that you can put on right after the fall. It keeps it from swelling too bad and hurting.
Check out my site for SAFER alternatives for your child and your family. this will help with future problems.

I think giving her Tylenol would be better! there has been alot of recalls lately on Motrin and Childrens cold medicine's. The safest medicine for pain seems to be Tylenol in children!
But she should be fine without anything. Hope she feels better. I'm not a doctor so please seek one if she gets worse!

Yeah, sure! I give my baby Motrin all the time, for teething or when she has a fever. It's the miracle elixir!
Do you have one of those freezer thingy's like a cold pack with the blue ice gel? Those are great for bumps, too.

Did you consult with the pediatrician first? Call the doctor and tell them that the child hit her head. You don't want her to end up with some type of hematoma and they say you hit the child in the head!
A call to the doctor and then follow their directions!
