Pregnancy & Parenting - 1 December 2007

All names are made-up! If you pick a 'tried and true' common or biblical name, it just means someone else made it up a really long time ago. Why are there books full of the meanings of names? Because they used to be ordinary words! Are you guys really as judgmental in real life as you seem to be on here? If you see a kid called Ocean would you really think bad things about him?

Has anyone here successfully followed the Baby Wise method of starting your baby off sleeping alone? I read the book while pregnant and thought I would follow that philosophy, but I always end up with my daughter sleeping with me because I am too exhausted to physically get up every 2 hours to nurse her.

Any real life experiences with Baby Wise? If it was successful for you, what was your secret to coping with getting up so often in the night?

ok well my friend is pregnant shes 16 she went to planed parenthood and found out she is pregnant me and a few other people are her really close friends and are tyring to help her think of a cute way to tell her parents i know there isnt a cute way to tell your parents your pregnant at that age but any ideas? and dont be dumb and say im talking about myself cuz if i was pregnant i would just say it its not like i know any of you guys

Where do you get yours from? How do you motivate yourself to do tasks that you don't want to do? (Homework, cleaning your room, going to your job, etc.)

I'm just curious because I should be cleaning my house but I'm on YA. I lost my motivation a long time ago...and I don't think it's coming back.

I hear that baby movement decreases before labor.. my question is HOW LONG before labor? is it a few hours? a few days?

My sister in law was on the pill and ran out so she went to planned parenthood on halloween and they were closed so she did not get to take the pill for about 3 days. the nurse told her to take 3 in one day and then go back to one. her last period was the 22nd of oct. and has not started her period. could she be pregnate or is it just from the pill? she took a test and it came up with a horizontal line.

my friend just lost her unborn son. she was pregnant and miscarried. she wants me to be there in the hospital with her. i'm willing to. i understand what shes going through because i have been there before. i'm going to try seeing her tomorrow. shes confused too. she was out when they were trying to save her and the baby. did everything they could for her son. then when she was in bed. she claims she dreamed about having a happy family with her ex and her son. she doesnt understand how she can dream like that after such a bad thing happened. she was told they were fantasies. now what can i do?

I am about to start cloth diapering my 14 month old. I'm tired of the red lines and rashes. I would like to know what works best and what brands, where to buy (I will probably buy online since I live in a small town, so cheap shipping options would be great). Kids always think it's O.K. to have unprotected sex, do you think a class or program should be undertaken where these children are required to take care of an infant (doll) for a couple of months? I think it would wake up alot of kids, not all, but some.

My son got his girlfriend pregnant and they got married. They aren't going to church but they want to name the little boy Christian. I don't think there is anything wrong with the name and I also am a Christian. I just really don't think the name is appropriate under the circumstances. I know this is not my child and they can name him whatever they want and I will not try to change their minds. This is just my opinion. I am going to love the child no matter what. So i was cleaning my house using Soft Scrub lemon scent, and now i am worried i may have harmed the baby. I was using gloves , but i could smell the cleaner. Do you think it could have harmed the baby??? I am 28 weeks....

They can't spell.I've been to this website called "neopets/myspace" and the spelling is horrible.
They don't know anything.99% of students of Y!A don't know where Europe is.....
They are sensible.I often see posts of "OmFg,I'm Not SeeIng They MoviEz If TeH doG diez!11!!!"
I remember when I was 13 I used to buy "True Crimes"(a magazine from the 80's) that had pictures of dead babies......It made our generation strong.

My daddy sent me to boarding school this year, far away from home, oh about 600 miles I guess, so I can't come home on weekends. However, one of my friends at school lives only 45 minutes away and goes home most weekends and she and her parents invite me over a lot ..4 times already. It is nice of them because it can be so boring at school on the weekend and school's in the middle of nowhere and they don't let us do much and the kids that stay there wind up getting in trouble. But anyways, my friend's family is a nice family and I am getting positive role models with them and at school, for a change as my former school disgusted me. Since I am 16 and really have very little money, should I do something to repay this rather extreme generosity? same goes for the dorm mother at school, she has been very nice to me as well, listens to my problems without judging me during the week. Anyways should I do something to repay her rather extreme generosity as well?

So I went to the doctor Monday,
I didn't really think about this til a few minutes ago.

I'm 31 weeks today.I have syatica and I've been in a lot of pain lately, Not to sound whiny, but I don't know whats normal pain and whats not first pregnancy. But he said if it continues I'll be induced at 38 weeks.

They did an ultrasound the day I went in, and he said the baby's lungs seem pretty well developed by now. And that he'd be extremely surprised, if my pregnancy went into the 40 weeks(i guess he meant, that he'd be surprised if I didn't go into labor before hand, but again I don't know)

She's almost 4 pounds at 30 weeks checkup.

Could the doctor possibly give me an "around suchandsuch weeks" the baby may be born
and could he possibly know if her lungs are developed?

I'm switching OB/GYN's anyways because of insurance purposes, and not paying for the doctor to deliver at the specific hospital. I would just like input if this has been said to you, and was true.
