The American Pediatrics Association recommends not putting shoes on your child at all until they are walking and even then they should be soft and flexible, not like regular shoes. Shoes will only make your son miserable and it may actually harm the development of his feet--stick to comfy socks and booties until he's at least 6-8 months old.

let me start off by saying I had two children and two baby shower's and every one bought me bigger sizes and when I brought my son home he had clothes that dround him sizes 3 months and up shoes sixe 1 and 2 etc... my point is get him 0 to 3 months clothes and size 0 in shoes hon cause I'm sure the same will happen to you. Sincerly, Michele

Size 1 and 2 for now. Its good to consider that they outgrow them very fast if you are thinking of getting expensive shoes. I love baby shoes!

sorry everyone, but there is such a shoe size as 0. my son was born with huge feet so he was only in zero for a few weeks but most newborns are zero for at least a month.

Shoes will make your newborn miserable. Consider these socks instead -- they look like sneakers but are comfortable and you don't have to worry about size.

If you want shoes on him (totally unnecessary until walking!), go with soft shoes such as Robeez.
