Welcome to fatherhood.
What should you do? Well, it's a little late for this advice, but keep your pants zipped next time.

That’s is the saddest thing I’ve ever heard!!!! Why is every answer saying TAKE CARE OF IT!!!?? U said it's been a year, what do they think you've done with the precious gift left it out on the door step all this time waiting for an answer as far as what to do? People aren't the smartest! Which I guessing that the baby's mother isn’t all there either....what’s her problem? Did you call the police and make a report? I feel for that child.....my answer to you besides take care of it, that obvious! But be the best father that you know how to be, b/c that beautiful gift was given to you, rather from god or the mother. Teach him/her that not everyone abandons kids like that low life of a 'mother'!!! Love and respect the baby:) You'll do a GREAT job! God bless you, the baby, and the mother where ever she may be!!

No matter if the baby turns out to be yours or not, what your "girlfriend" did is called child endangerment and is illegal. You need to call the police to file a report. Also, since you haven't seen the mother in a year, and I'm assuming you had no contact at all with her while she was el prego, I recommend getting a DNA test to prove paternity. I can't believe she just left a baby on your doorstep. That is insane! If the baby turns out to be yours then you have a whole-nuther thing to think about. If you want to keep the baby then that is absolutely great, and good for you for being the bigger person. If you sit down and really think about it, and you just can't take care of your child then you can give the baby up for adoption. There are thousands of couples out there who are just dying to have a baby and can't. If it turns out the baby isn't yours you can let the police take the child. If it's not yours and you decide to keep it anyway, well, good for you and welcome to fatherhood. Just make sure you contact the baby's mother so you can legally adopt them.
Best of luck!

I would first go buy a couple of things because no matter what you do the baby needs to eat and be changed. Everybody so far has been saying to get a dna test done but I think first go to the store get some diapers, wipes, formula and bottles. Make sure you boil the bottles to sterilize them before you use them. I think before you worry about calling the police or any of that stuff you need to first make sure that the baby is ok. I'm not sure where you live but it's December now and it's getting chilly. Check fingers and toes for frostbite seeing as you don't know how long the baby was there. And for now just hold it. Babies need closeness and love it has just been deserted my it's mother and that is so sad so please just her or him and tell him it'll be alright.

Wow, pretty serious stuff. If anyone left a baby on my steps I would take care of it. I mean, who knows what this person would do to it if they kept it. There are so many freaks out there hurting little children and babies, be the good guy and do the right thing. If you think that it is yours, get a DNA test and find a way to take care of it. If you have any questions on what to do there are plenty of books and plenty of women on here that would be more than happy to help you. Also, call your mom, she may have some advice. Good luck!

Is this for real????
If it is the first thing you need to do is call the police and make a report. Seriously. What if this chick snatched someones baby and in a panic left it on ur door and called it yours? Next thing you know the neighbor sees her picture on the 7:00 news, recognises your new baby on the amber alert and bam... life over.
If the baby is yours (which will probably take a few weeks to sort out) then take care it. But definatly call the police.
Still.... seems like a spoof question to me.

1. Call the police, because that is child abandonment.
2. Take baby to a hospital to make sure it is okay and healthy.
3. Determine if you want to take care of the child.
4. If you do, get a paternity test.
5. If you don't want the child, find out what you need to do to give it up for adoption. The police or hospital staff should be able to help you out.
6. If the DNA test determines the baby is not yours, talk to the police or hospital staff to determine what to do with the baby.
7. If the paternity test determines it is yours, then good luck and congratulations with your new baby!

Well, you should take the kid in. She was extermely wrong to just leave the kid there on your step. Make sure to take care of the kid. Get tests done to find out if you are infact the father unless you know that you are for sure. If you want the kid then go and try and get custody of the kid yourself. If she left it there then I guess she does not want the kid. Alert someone in authority of the issue as well. A person in authority should know of the issue and what has happened. Its for the better of the child.

If you haven't seen her in a year, and it's a newborn baby it can't be yours. If the baby is a few months old it could be. Either way, you need to let the authorities know and get a DNA test done to find out if it's your child or not.

How old is the baby? If under 3 months, and you haven't seen her in a year, then it can't be yours. I would contact the police. They will know what to do.

first off get a dna test. then afterwards you need to get to the police and try to get this girl arrested for child neglect. then take care of the child because the baby needs you. the baby needs somebody to love him/her and to take care of him/her. if you don't want to take care of the baby; then put it up for adoption and make sure you give it to a loving and caring family. if you do give the child up for adoption, make sure that you can still be in the child's life.
if the baby isn't yours; then give the baby a bath and give it a bath. then take it to the police so they can try to find the mother of the baby. then they will see if she wants the baby and if not, they will try to put the baby up for adoption.
but try to find out why the girl gave up the baby. if you decide to keep the child, you will have to explain (when the child is older) why the mother didn't want to take care of the baby. what you need to do is be truthful to the child, and never give up on him/her. the child needs somebody!
