My son is almost 6 months old and we decided to start feeding him solid foods (well mashed up and pureed foods). We are starting him off feeding him solids once a day, and after trying a new food we won't have him try another one for 3 days and just feed him regular baby cereal (the doctor said this was best for allergy reasons). He eats the food really well and barely spits any out, so he seems ready to eat.

But I noticed since we started that his bowel movements have been slower (he normally goes every morning about 9) and when it comes out that it is a lot thicker and darker. Before this he was purely a breastfeed baby and it always thinner and a yellowish color. I am kinda figuring that is happening cause we started feeding him solids, but I wanted to know if anyone else has had this kind of experience?

Also if anyone makes/made their own baby food.. can you pass along any tips or recipes?

Thanks!

I know it's a part of growing up, but she won't stop back talking to me, swearing at me, getting into fights with girls at school, being mean to her 6 year old sister, and rude to my houseguests.
We went to a high class restaurant yesterday, and she was acting like a child, bealching without excusing herself, pciking at her teeth at the table and when the waitor said that they were out of chicken parmasean, her favorite, she mumbled under her breath about the service, shook her head and rolled her eyes like she owned the damn place!
I grounded for our trip until we get home to Boston, but today when I told her to turn off the television, she wouldn't, so I walked over, turned it off, and went back into the kitchen.
She gave me a dirty look and turned it back on.

What am I to do?

I have decided to breastfeed. I am going to be a stay at home mom while he will be breastfeeding. I just need a pump to store some if I am going away or dropping him off at my Mom's to do some grocery shopping. Nothing to major, I was just wondering what kind of pump you would reccommend for this. I don't think I would like a manual one and I can't afford the pricer ones. Can anyone reccommend a cheaper electric pump? Thank you!

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for quite a long time, and of course we have thought about names. I always liked "Lexi" or "Ally" for a girls nicknames but Alexandra is too long, we dont like it, and Alexis makes us think of people we dont want to think about. Then not too long ago we became friends with someone with a little girl named Alexa, and I immediately fell in love with the name because its just what I would want for my daughter and I never thought about it. Well now we are having a baby and want to use that name but our friend gets mad if I bring it up. Do we just pick another name?

My son goes down to bed with his pacifier. He spits it out as soon as he falls asleep. Then he will wake up about 4 times a night for his blanket to be put by his face and his pacifier to be put in his mouth. He will go back to sleep after that no problem. How can I get him to sleep through the night????

I have a 10 year old boy and an 8 year old girl. As a child I had to learn the facts of life from my great grandmother b/c she saw the signs of change in me and couldn't convince my mother to talk to me. So thankfully, she talked to me when I was 8 and I got my first period before my 9th birthday (and before my mother ever approached me with the subject). I don't want it do be like that for my children. I want the facts to come from their father and I. Also, how much to you tell a boy, since they will not have to go through as much as a girl does. And also, take into consideration that we are all under the same roof, therefore at some point my son will see and know the changes happening in his sister.

Serious responses, thoughts, and opinions only please! I am struggling with what, when, and how much to tell them.

Thanks! And God Bless!

My son is eighteen months old and can't stand unless he pulls up on something. He "runs" on his hands and feet but won't walk. He is walking around furniture. He will walk when someone is holding his hand but he is very unsteady. He just can't get his balance.

He "talks" normally for his age and does everything else appropriate to his age. There are no signs of Autism.

I have seen his doctor who told me to come back in two months if he still won't walk. They will test him for problems then.

Has anyone else experienced this with their child? He is getting medical attention and I don't need advice about that. I just want to know how people FINALLY got their late-walking babies to develope balance and start walking on their own.

Thanks!

I have a little girl aged 3 born when I was turning 23.
It was my own fault for getting pregnant but I decided to accept the consequences and I do not believe in killing unborn children.

I was very ill during the pregnancy with hyperemesis (excessive vomiting for 8 months) and went down in weight to 77lb/35kg (thats right) and had a very bad delivery with serious tear.

Throughout my pregnancy I was unable to work due to illness. but did have to do some work to make ends meet (care worker for disabled) and I really suffered.

My baby's father is basically not sure what he wants out of life. we have been in and out of a relationship but he has not been willing to commit and has cheated and been physically abusive but I tried to make it work so that my girl could grow up with a mom and dad.

I was also a Christian when I got pregnant and I got a lot of judgemental comments from church people as well as family because of being unmarried and pregnant.

My career has also

my first daughter didnt do this. this one will NOT stand to be put in her crib to fall asleep. we have to hold her until she's in her little baby-coma before we can put her down. and then , it has to be done very carefully.
dont get me wrong, we're not the kind to leave her in there all the time, to where she'll get that horrible flat-head. but she refuses to be in there until she's completely out.

when it comes to sex, most parents refuse to talk about it with their children. As children grow up, they get to know a few concepts about sex in natural way somehow but most of them prefer to know this information from their parents. Why are most parents not comfortable to talk about sex with their children?

I am 27 weeks prego and my weight was about 160 when I first got pregnant (or first found out at 5 weeks)So I lost weight until I got down to 140 (-20lbs)and now I have gained back slowly that weight and am now at 152. my question is that healthy? And what weight do I start from to tell how much I have gained? I am almost at the beginning of 7 th month. The nurses at my prenatal sort of look at me funny when they weigh me at my appt.s. Wondered if anyone else had this happen to them ?
Thanks!

He is currently drinking 6oz every 4 hours during the day and sleeps 8 hours at night. He isnt crying or miserable, but he does spit up all day long. I dont know if its because he drinks such a large quantity at feedings? Would giving a little bit of cereal cut down on the amount during feedings?

Hi all,

My sister-in-law is preggers and her due date is Dec. 2, 2007. This is her first baby, and the doctor says she could go in to labor any time now.

Our question is this. Is it more likely that she will deliver the child after her due date or before being this is her first?

Thanks!

Soon to be aunt

So,my 2 yeard old will not eat.He eats something everyday, but barely. He drinks fine, but refuses the majority of what we give him.He eats only pizza, corndogs,or chicken. We dont often have junk food for dinner, but our meals arent tofu and seaweed either. His energy is fine,he runs around like a madman all day,and his growth is right on target. The DR says to just let him eat how much and what he wants, not to force him, since hes growing fine and isnt lethargic.Just wondering if this is normal for him to live off juice and air.

Hello, I recently founded an independent rap music label called "Super Kind Records" less than a year ago. To assist in the promotion of my label I legally changed my name from Earl Finklestein (which in my opinion was not gangsta enough) to Super King. Well, my daughter, who is 16, told me a few months ago that she though this was cool and was all of the sudden attracted to guys who have unique name. I figured this was just her being a rebellios teenager so I didn't take it seriously. Well anyway, yesterday she introduced me to her new boyfriend and his name is "Cash-Dog Murder!!" This is horrible because what if they get married and have kids! I don't want my grandchildren to have the last name Murder or have a father with the first name Cash-Dog!! On top of this, Cash-Dog Murder is a rapper for another rap label which is one of my major competitors.

This is just awful. Please help.

As the saying, Unite two people with one hope.

I think I can accomplish that by using the name Lorene. My one loved one middle name was Lorene which means laurel referring to the laurel tree or sweet bay tree symbolic of honor and victory. And my other loved one first name was Bernice means victory bringer.

So, I figure I use just the name Lorene as a middle name I will be honoring both of them at the same time.

Do you think that works? Any other opinions.
