I am 27 weeks prego and my weight was about 160 when I first got pregnant (or first found out at 5 weeks)So I lost weight until I got down to 140 (-20lbs)and now I have gained back slowly that weight and am now at 152. my question is that healthy? And what weight do I start from to tell how much I have gained? I am almost at the beginning of 7 th month. The nurses at my prenatal sort of look at me funny when they weigh me at my appt.s. Wondered if anyone else had this happen to them ?
Thanks!

Did you diet to lose the weight, or was it a morning sickness thing?
Honestly, as long as you didn't intentionally lose it, it sounds fine. You'll gain faster in the third trimester, as the baby gains roughly .5lb per week from about week 33 and up. Don't feel bad about gaining weight when you're pregnant!!! This is the one time you're allowed. I gained 50 lbs with my son (that's more than they'd like) but nobody yelled at me about it. I also lost it all in the 9 months after he was born. They say, 9 months on, 9 months off if it's healthy weight. Of course now I'm pregnant again.
Just FYI-- I am 5'2", and I started at 134 with my son and delivered at 184. I weighed 134.5 on the day I got my positive pregnancy test with this one, and even though I'm 9 weeks today I'm only weighing 134 still. It's different for everyone, and every pregnancy! Enjoy it.

Ideally, you should not loose so much weight - but some of us loose quite a bit first trimester.
Your weight gain is calculated from what you weighed when you got pregnant [ 160 - so you are still minus 8 pounds.]
Do not TRY to loose weight -it can be dangerous to the baby and you.
1] take your vitamins
2] eat according to dietary guidelines given by midwife/doctor.
3] avoid 'empty' calories [ food with no nutrition but fat or sugar ]
4] keep active - walk, swim. dance - do situps and pushups til belly gets in the way.
Then do pelvic tilts and wall presses until you deliver. Keeping your body strong will help support that baby weight the last trimester.[ less back and leg aches ].
5] ideal weight gain is 25 to 30 pounds.

Nothing wrong with that. I lost 10 pounds so far and i am 7.5 weeks along only. I want to lose another 20 before second trimester kicks in. I am not really trying though, i eat when i am hungry and healthy things, i am just rarely hungry.
As long as you eat healthy foods and dont starve yourself or do any drastic diet changes there is nothing wrong with losing weight in the first trimester. Baby really gets most of it weight gain (noticable weight gain) in the second and third trimesters.

It's normal to lose weight in the first trimester, and then gain it all back plus some in the 2nd & 3rd trimesters.
