Yo are right, I am naming second name after someone. Except it is my deceased grandma who I admire more than anyone. I want my son and daughter to have her name, Pearl. However, Perl is too girly for a guy, so I was thinking Earl. Or what about Paul? Anyway, I love the nickname Larry, so I will give him a more modern name like Lawrence or Larson. Any more suggestions? (Positive please).

It's great for an English Bulldog, but not a human.

I am assuming because those names are not very common right now, that Larry Earl is names after someone. I think that giving your child a name in honor of a special relative is a great gesture.
That being said, Larry and Earl are names common with our grandparents/parents generations which usually means that they are not trendy or popular at all.
If you like names that go against the trends, then this name could work for you.
Otherwise, consider naming him:
Larson Earl
or
Lawrence Earl
and giving him Larry as a nickname. That way, if he likes it he can use it too, but he will have more modern options.
I think that Larson fits in well with the "an, en on" name trend without being too common and would be a good way to honor a dad names Larry.
Good luck finding the perfect name!

Seems like I'm not the only one who doesn't like the name. If you are naming him after a relative or someone, you may not have much choice. But there are a lot of cute boy names out there, and I believe your son would thank you for not naming him Larry Earl.

If u like it, then more power to ya! however, it sounds a little old school like from the 50's. Try something newer. Larry is new and good, but i personally wouldnt choose earl.

The plus side is it dosen't ryhme with anything , so he won't get teased on the playground.I sounds like a senoir citizen's name. Try mixing it up maybe using Lawrence. Go somewhere and introduce yourself as that ,and see how people react to it. You want his name to look good on a loan application, a job application , and any other paper of importance. Paul sounds nice. Paul Lawrence ____?

Well, if you like it, then that is all that matters. Personally, I don't fancy that name. Maybe something a little more simple? Like:
Jack
Nick
Tom
If you like long names, then name him a long name. But be sure to make sure it has a nickname! Like:
Nicholas (Nick)
Thomas (Tom)
Jonathan (John)
If you like double names like you showed (Larry Earl), then most likely your son will be given an "Initial Name". Like:
Larry Earl ( L.E. so he moght be called Lee)
Thomas John (T.J.)
Ect.
So consider all the small things before it's final!!!
Hope I Helped!!!

I think it is way OK. You could even do Earl Larry, but the depends on our last name. What you want is a reythm. They are going to skip the middle name and put initital.

I don't know. Larry sounds ok but Earl is another story. Maybe if its his last name but not for a middle name. Good Luck!

My name is Earl. Not the TV show. My name really is Earl and I could stab my parents for that. It's horrible. How about something more modern.
Dillon Alexander- there you go

Sounds good if you live in Arkansas. Couldn't get worse than my middle name, Bob. Of course, my parents were rednecks.
I wanted to give my sons dignified names so I picked Oliver Wendell for my oldest and Ralph Waldo for my youngest. My wife vetoed both. So I've got a Kevin Michael and Geoffrey Scott.
