I'm 36 weeks along and dialated to two. They said the baby is big and healthy because of steroid shots I had to get last month because of preterm labor. WHAT can I do to make labor come quicker? I just want this little guy out. He's in the 70th percentile for size so it's not like he's a little guy. Any suggestions on what I can do to put myself in labor? I've heard Castor Oil. Does that work?

They are females.
They were born 7 weeks early at 4lbs 3oz and 5lbs 4oz.
July 2006 they weighed 34 and 37 lbs.
October 2007 they weigh 30 and 33 lbs.
They wear big 18 months, and all 24 month clothing.

It would be one thing if they were just small, but kept growing...

But they have lost weight over 15 months...

They are not my children, but I care for them on weekends and they also have bruising and diaper rashes...and if you didn't notice by that sentence, they are still in diapers, and no where CLOSE to being potty trained...

IS THEIR WEIGHT LOSS OKAY???

I would prefer to be able to shorten in some way (even if it's just a nickname, not something to go by). I need a first and middle name. The last name is Alexander. My name is Alexis Hailee, so please don't suggest either of those (I've had that happen a couple times).

Argh!

Yet again my ten month old is refusing to eat!

He will suck on finger foods such as rusks, baby biscuits and bread/toast. I've tried offering "healthier" finger foods such as cooked veg and sliced fruit and he just throws them on the floor.

He will eat smooth, sweet foods such as yoghurt, fromage frais, fruit puree, egg custard and baby rice pudding.

And nothing else!!!

I'm tearing my hair out that he's going to be malnourished! But short of bodily holding him down and forcing the food into his mouth I can't get him to eat anything else!

I've cut his breastfeeds down to 3 a day so it can't even be that he's filling up on breastmilk.

I'm so worried I can't seem to get any sense out of my Health Visitor! Please tell me he will grow out of this! Is he going to suffer from malnutrition?

My 6th grader in in volley ball and I told her that if VB got in the way of school work, then she would not be able to play.Well I found out she is hiding her homework or not bringing it home and rushing to get it done before school or between classes. They have block schedule so homework is always due at 2 days later than assigned, giving plenty of time to complete it.
I decided to not let her play in the game Wed because work she got Fri and Mon was not done. Does anyone agree with me. I told her she can earn VB back if she gets her work done next week.

Trying to get my 13 yr old son up for school is a huge challenge. It often results in him finally walking out the door minutes before the bus gets here.

Thats just with throwing clothes on and running to the stop. I am tired of fighting in the mornings. I even went and got a whistle to blow in the morning. All he does is cover his head.

So if anyone has any suggestions. He claims he don't get enough sleep, 9:30pm is his bed time.

I have two neighbors that are 13-14 year old girls and they are always coming up to my 10 year old son and asking him to go on a walk with them or just standing there and flirting with him(Im not sure if they are flirting but it sure looks like it)
He was just invited to a bonfire they are having tonight. He said he didnt want to go because he is uncomfortable around them. Are they just being nice? Should i be concerned? Am i worring to much?

Teacher Debbie Moon's first graders were discussing a picture of a family. One little boy in the picture had a different hair color than the other members. One of her students suggested that he was adopted.

A little girl said, "I know all about adoption, I was adopted."

"What does it mean to be adopted?", asked another child.

"It means", said the girl, "that you grew in your mommy's heart instead of her tummy!"

I was adopted in Connecticut when I was 1 month old. I do not know anything about my birth parents- no names, nothing. I do not live in CT anymore but I would like to know how I go about finding them. I have tried to go through the adoption agency where I was adopted from (Catholic Family Services) in CT and they told me I have to pay $200 search fee and it does not guarantee they will be able to give me anything. Isn't there a better way??? Please help! I have children of my own now and I really just want to know some medical history. There is nothing in the adoption paperwork about any medical issues.

ok for all the women who have given birth how bad is the pain?

Ive heard that it varies from person to person.

I had a miscarriage at 16 weeks once and had dilated to 5 before they gave me an epidural when they did a DnC and I didn't think it hurt more than bad period cramps.

How bad does it rely get?

How bad was it for you?

(ps. I'm planing a natural birth with my husband and mother in the room during active labor. Yes I know it could go another way but this is just my birth plan.)

My husband and I have been married for almost 4 months, but have been together for almost 7 and a half years. I've wanted to have children for as long as I can remember and before we got married, we discussed the issue and my husband said he wanted to wait a couple of years after we married. Now that we're married though, my motherly instincts have kicked into overdrive and it's all that I think about. I love my husband dearly and don't look at having a child as a negative at all. My husband, however, looks at it as the end of our lives as we know it. Whereas I look at it as being able to share our lives with our child, he sees it completely different.

My question is more of a desire for your opinion. How soon is too soon to have children? I understand that it's a case by case deal, but I'm soooo ready and he's soooo not! What can I do in the meantime to busy myself until he's finally ready for parenthood?

So, this morning I woke up with an allergic reaction. My whole face was swollen. I called my dr. and he couldn't work me in, so I went to my OB and asked a nurse to see me. The nurse said my OB wouldn't know what to do since it wasn't gynecology related, and I should go to my doctor or the emergency room.

I could have seen my dr at the end of the day, but rather than wait 7 hours I went to the emergency room. My question is, should I be mad at my OB for not seeing me, or is that normal? It was definitely pregnancy related but not gynecology.
