I love the name but I'm bias as that's my eldest daughter's name. We were going to call her Ellie-Anna but settled on just Ellie.
Fab name!

I love this name and nearly named my own daughter Ellie. However, I was worried that some mean children would call her "smelly Ellie". I know that's just terrible, but it was just a thought I had. I guess kids can come up with nasty rhymes for just about any name if they are motivated to do so, so perhaps it's a silly point to make.

ohhhhhhhhhhh i'm an Ellie apart from i spell my name "Elly". It's suddenly become really popular for new babies over the past couple of years (i think it is the new 'emma'). My real name is Eleanor (this is very French no?) which is good as i'll switch to that when i get older!
It's a good name despite all the things it rhymes with. Those who really know me call me 'El', which i really like!

Personally I think it's too nicknamey and very overused. I wouldn't call her Ellie on it's own but make it short for something like Eleanor or Elizabeth or something more interesting like Eloise, if you wanted a French name.

It makes me think of Ellie Mae Clampett from the old tv show "The Beverly Hillbillies". I still like the name though. Just don't be surprised if she has lots of "critters" and uses a piece of rope for a belt in her jeans.
