My son took Motrin (was given it in the hospital) at 1 year. So it's safe, but you need to make sure you get the right dose and for that you NEED to talk to your doctor. Giving them a dose that is listed on the bottle results in an overdose (which the FDA is worried about). So ask your pediatrician. Some doctors even have nurses on staff that can answer this sort of question.
Remember too, that Motrin is stronger than Tylenol. It's for the high fevers and can only be given every 8 hours. So it's definitely something you don't want to overdose on.

I've had 2 kids and I only use motrin. Tylenol doesn't seem to work with anyone in my family. I've used motrin since day one. I use infant's motrin and half the smallest dose for when they are under the minimum age on the bottle.

I still use Infants motrin for my 14 month old. I think that's best. And my doctor always said to try and use weight to dose instead of age. But I would strongly suggest to stay wiht the infants motrin!!! ....Hope this helps

It depends more on the weight than the age. Look at the dosing on the bottle - if he is under the lowest weight range, use Infant's motrin instead of children's.
ADD: The recent medicine recall is due to overuse (giving it to children when they do not need it) and incorrect dosing. The medicines are perfectly safe when used in the correct dose. Pain relievers aren't being recalled, only those labeled as cold medicine.
"It's important to point out that these medicines are safe and effective when used as directed, and most parents are using them appropriately," said Linda A. Suydam, D.P.A, president of CHPA. "The reason the makers of over-the- counter, oral cough and cold medicines for infants are voluntarily withdrawing these medicines is that there have been rare patterns of misuse leading to overdose recently identified, particularly in infants, and safety is our top priority."

I don't know for sure but for best results call the child's pediatrician, your doctor or at least a pharmacist at CVS, Rite Aid, Wall Greens, or another one near you.

you should be waiting to destroy out with the backside dose. My sons dr pronounced we are able to bypass via his weight on meds (the well being facility gave me papers additionally asserting what doses to apply, and that they bypass via weight additionally). the different day my mom stopped via the keep to get him tylenal. Hes have been given 3-4 tooth coming with the aid of appropriate now. She picked up young babies tylenal instead of toddler. i study the energetic factors and located that if i exploit the toddler suringe thingy (its the .8ml stopper) then i will get the surprising volume in my son. hes a million, the young babies energetic element is 160ml of acetaminophen in line with .8 ml and the toddler is 0.5 the quantity (80ml in line with a million.6ml) that made me experience alot better. i think of they say to bypass via weight and age to guard themselves, and beacause each and each new child is diverse.
