OH MY GOD! I had just been giving my son those Triaminic thin strips, and he is 11 months old. Why the hell don't they test this **** out before putting kids at risk. They really need to let the pubic know by putting flyers on shelfs where the med's was so we know this..... To let those of you know I never given my kids med's to help them sleep, I also give my son the right does too. Just calling your doctor's nurse and she will tell you the right amount. You don't have to actually go in and calling only takes 5 min's of your time! My childrens care are the most important to me.

It is because of parents that can't follow directions, or choose not to. I have known of parents that will give their children cold medicine just so they can get some sleep at night. It is sad that people will do things like that, but all too real. Now when your baby gets a cold, its off to the dr's office so you can pay a nice bill to get the same thing you used to get over the counter. Parents are still going to overdose. If they can't follow directions on the bottle when they buy it themselves, what makes anyone so sure they will follow the same directions when a Dr has them printed on the label?

The article stated that parents were overdosing their children, that the labels need to be changed from "consult a doctor for chlidren under 2" to "do not administer to children under 2".
They should definitely change the labels. Parents should also follow the directions on those labels. I know that I've read them and thought, "It doesn't say not to give it to them, it says to ask a doctor. The doctor will probably just tell me to give em a smaller dose or something."

It's not a recall. They need to fix their dosing directions so parents don't make these mistakes anymore.

The warning has been out since JANUARY of this year. Where has everybody been? I'm glad that they're taking steps now, but the FDA warned about cold medicines for babies months ago.

the main reason for this is because people dont pay attention to the EXACT amount, depending on weight that a child under 2 yrs is allowed. They overmedicate and think if a little is okay then alot is even better. And the parents who give a child medicine just to put them to sleep..YES YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!

My daughters PED told me 2 years ago DO NOT GIVE COLD MEDS of any type, if its not precription which is given only for the most serious colds in children this age..to use a COOL AIR humidifier, not hot air, nor with vicks (thats even worse) in the same sroom as my child...LO and BEHOLD it worked and still works at 2 1/2 yrs of age.

some of this happens to be common sense or listening to your DR, not just buying whats on the shelf at walmart.
