Shoot, I'm twenty and I still take naps! Haha.

If anything I'd just have quiet time with him. My son started hating taking a nap so I just did a semi-bed time routine with him and had a half hour of quiet time before he takes his nap. We just sit down, read some books, and settle down in the afternoon. I have to catch it just right or else he's too excited to lay down.

Also take into account his level of activity during the day. Have him play outside in the mornings [if he isn't already] to get some of that energy out. Fill up his tummy and settle down. Get his room as dark as possible also. Lay him down and if anything just get him to be quiet fo an hour or two.

We took care of my cousin for two years [starting when he was two and a half] and he had the same issues. After we started doing this he really showed improvement. Consider his bedtime too. How much sleep does he get at night? Is he cranky when he wakes up? This might sound silly but the less sleep at night my son gets the more tired he is when he wakes up.

I hope this helps! Best of Luck!

The kindergarten at our elementary doesn't have kids take a nap, so I would say its depends on how your school systems work. For me, I let them take naps until the didn't want to anymore, which was around 3 years old. If he is cranky, have him lay on the couch and watch Blue's Clues or something with the lights off. If he falls asleep, then that's good, but if he dosent, make him rest for at least 30 minutes.

Hope I helped!

Most children stop needing a nap at 4 or 5. If he is crabby then he is telling you he still needs a nap. I would recommend laying down with him for a little while when its nap time. Start a nap time routine just like you do for bed. He doesn't want to lay down bc he he wants to play and doesn't want to miss anything. Make sure he knows he won't be missing anything when he does nap. Its normal for children to start protesting their nap time, but it sounds like to me he still needs one even if he doesn't want one. Good luck!

My 4 365 days outdated quit sound asleep whilst he replaced into approximately 15 months :( His bedtime is 8:00-8:30, and he wakes up approximately 6:30. My 17 month outdated nevertheless takes 2 naps every day. She is going to mattress on the comparable time as her brother, and wakes up at 5:40 5.

Considering they still make kids take naps in kindergarten, he is definitely isn't too old. Since he is cranky in the evening and not wanting to go to sleep at night, he is most likely overtired and needs a nap!

At this age, he still needs his naps.
I would suggest at age five, you should start getting him used to stopping the naps..and at age 6 stop it completely. Even after you've stopped it, he'll still need a nap sometimes. As a parent, you'll need to be able to judge when he needs/doesn't need a nap. Some day's he'll be supertired.. Other's raring to go! You'll have to be the judge =D

Even in kindergarten most kids get nap time, so I wouldn't think 3 years old is too old.
