Are OBGYN exams other than the annual papsmear covered on regular HMO policies? For example, exams in the first trimester when I would be pregnant: would they be covered under my copay or would I have to get maternity ins?

My 8 year old daughter is mostly a good kid. Sometimes she whines and she can be mouthy on occasion, but all in all she's pretty good. I am a single parent... I do what I can.

The teacher says my daughter is very bright but she needs her full attention... she is talking constantly in class. She's had this problem in school from the beginning, but it's affecting her grades more now that she has more work to do and more to learn. I don't really know how to convince her how important it is to do well in school. I have a hard time getting her to do her work at home, sitting at the dining room table all by herself... she'll sit there and sing and talk to herself. I'm constantly getting onto her. Yesterday I told her if she didn't improve, she would not be praticipating in Girl Scouts or Cheerleading this year. Does anyone have any other suggestions??

She's 16 months old and sometimes when we're playing, out of the blue she grabs my hand and BITES ME... :( ... I believe she thinks she's playing, I tell her "No" firmly, but I don't know if this is enough and I'd hate for her to start bitting other kids too...

Where do stretch marks start? Can they start around your belly button. Im only 11 weeks so of course i don't have them yet...im not even really showing yet. BUT i have noticed shiny lines around my belly button. They're not pink or anything and they blend in with my skin..its wierd. At first i thought it was just dry skin and i put lotion on it...but that's not it. What ya'll think?

Hello all..

I am 25 years old and pregnant for the second time. I miscarried last year and doc told me that the sac was empty. “No baby”

Now I am about 4 weeks gestation and my first prenatal visit is schedule for tomorrow. About an hour ago, I had a brown color discharge with some tissue like thing and I am freaking out. I feel that the soreness in my breasts have also gone down considerably. But only yesterday I was having nausea.

Another reason for being so scared is that, last year when the doc did the vaginal u/s and said that it was empty, I started having a brown discharge couple of days later. It went on until they did a D&E and cleaned it up. I think I would have been about 8 weeks when they did the D&E.

Can someone please tell me whether this is normal? I cried so much and I don’t think I have the strength go through another misery.

I have been reading articles about the "new generation" of parents posting baby pics online and how that might not be a good idea. Years from now those pictures might still be out there and your kids might get mad since they didn't choose to have pictures of themselves posted online. What are people's thoughts on this and are there any good pic websites that allow for password protection so if nothing else, you can control who sees the pictures?

my alaskan malamute is 9 years old. Malamutes life span is 10 years, although her vet says she probably has a couple more in her. Okay, lately for the last week my malamute can't hold it as long as she used too. The other day I let her out to go potty, brought her back in and then left to go pick up my olderst from school. We were gone 10 minutes at most and she had pooped all over my dining room. Then last night she was let out at 1:30am to go to the bathroom and do her buisness and at 5am we were woken up by her pooping in my bedroom, Just 3.5 hours after she was out.

This is a dog that is in good health that used to sleep from 1am to 6:30am with out having to go. And now she can't hold it more that 3.5 hours. I don't know if its her age of what.

I have taken her to two vets in the past week and all they say is she is healthy. So confused.

I love the nickname Mimi but I don't think that it's serious enough for a grown woman. It was my grandmother's nickname (and I had a very special relationship with her) but her name was Margaret and I can't stand that name! What 'real' name can I give my daughter where I can call her Mimi?
I know Emily and Michelle... what are my other options? Please and Thank you!

I have beent old that it is normal, that around this age they feel more independent and they are testing that and testing you. I just spent 30 min putting him back in time out and he is finally staying now. The last few times we went out to eat we had to leave because he would not listen and kept crawling under the table and lying down & putting his feet on the wall! I know nothing traumatic has happened to him. I spend plenty of time w/my kids and they get lots of praise, lots of time outside playing, time playing w/other kids, they eat very healthy foods.
Most of the time he is very well behaved, great w/other kids, shares, takes turns, goes to bed without any trouble ...
what do you think?

This isn’t really a question I just want support. In April after trying for our second child for only 2 months we got pregnant we were so happy but lost the baby in June. The way things happened was very hard for me. We were told that after 2 months we could start trying again. I just started my period today cycle 3 of trying. I know that isn’t very long but if you think about it it has been 6 moths of trying . Its hard to wait even though we know it will happen eventually. But the part that is so hard for me is I am married we own our home as well as our vehicles all out right we have a 3 bedroom house and a lot of love and I keep getting told about my cousin who doesn’t have custody of her 2 year old is now trying really hard to get pregnant buy some guy she has been dating for like a month she is homeless and her child is living with the grandmother who is soon to be homeless. She had an abortion since her daughter has been born and my uncles wife is apparently trying to get pregnant because there relationship is crumbling again partly because she is a crappy parent and they cant handle the 3 kids they have and make there oldest child responsible for the other 2. and with out getting into all the stories I know a million ppl in bad situations who are pregnant. I just don’t get it why did my baby have to be taken away from me. All I could say when I was told about my cousin was im going to be pissed if she gets pregnant b4 me!! I know everything happens the way it does for a reason and we have already been very blessed with our son and a lot of ppl don’t even have that. It just stinks why cant ppl who actually want to get pregnant and for the right reasons get pregnant. Like I said it isn’t a question I just need to vent.
