I was going to name my child Alyssa Mica (Me-ca). How can you make fun of Alyssa? My cousin named her daughter Alyssa as well and she has never been made fun of. *shrugs*. I don't know about the name Dillion though, I have always liked Conner...just my opinion :o) Good luck in finding a name!!

Dillion? I'm just confused about the extra "i". If you're pronouncing it like the traditional Dylan, then I'd lose the extra i. It makes it look like Dill-Yon. Even if that was his grandfather's spelling, you can update the spelling and still say that your child was named for him. Otherwise I love Dillon Rayfield! Especially because of the familial connection. (I'm assuming that Prosser is your last name?)

I'm not personally a fan of Alyssa. But that's just my opinion. Jolean is my best friend's middle name and she hates it. It took her forever to even tell me what it was and if you call her that she shoots you dirty looks! lol BUT, that family connection is obviously a big part for you. SO, how about updating it a bit. You could do a super girly first name paired with Jo as a middle. Cute! Or instead of Jolean, how about Maelean, Raylene, Jaylene, etc. (Any if those would work with an 'e' or 'y'. Maelean/Maylean, get it?) I think these give 'lean' a great modern twist.

Anyway, HTH!

Dillon Rayfield is a fine name, especially because you're honoring loved ones.

Alyssa JoLean is, IMHO, dreadful. Alyssa sounds stuck in the 1980s and "JoLean" is not terribly sophisticated. What about Calista, Alexia, Sabrina? Pretty, but not as dated. Better Josephine or Joanna for a middle name, and save the "Lean" bit for another baby.

I have to agree with your husband. Not that she will necessarily be "made fun of" -- that's just a silly assumption ;) -- but that I'm not at all fond of Alyssa (at least for a child born AFTER 1979 LOL) and that JoLean is, well, less than classy. I'd choose a middle name after either your mother or husband rather than trying to create one, complete with incorrect mid-name capitalization. That just never comes across as very attractive, I'm afraid. Why not Josephine for Jo, or Eleanor or Leanora for the "lean" portion (not knowing your husband's actual name)? That said, if he doesn't like the name to begin with, I'm certain he'd be more than happy to drop his "lean" (LOL) in favor of honoring someone else.

I'd change Dillion to "Dillon"...Alyssa is a lovely name....JoLean is awful - sorry. Neither first name should provoke much teasing as there are a lot of little kids out there with much more really stupid names.

I like the names. I am not sure what would make someone make fun of the name Alyssa- it is very pretty. Dillion could get made fun of (dill)? But I know alot of Dillion's. It is a nice name too.

Those are great names! I love Dillon and Alyssa (maybe Dylan?) and they aren't going to get teased at all. I'm not 100% sold on the 2nd names but they rarely get used so whats the problem right?
He's just being silly like most husbands when it comes to baby names but hopefully if you just keep using these names he will come around.

what about raymond Dillon for a boy--keps the grandfather's name and is similar to your father's name.

For a girl...well he hates alyssa...so you probably won't be able to go with that...how about isabella joleana...still keeping the family names.....

p.s. i think the names you picked are cute..you could nick name the girl A.J. :D

i myself think that both of them are very pretty names. the way my brother and his wife did it was she named the girl (or the first baby) and then he named the boy( which was the second child). they didnt argue about it at all..... i think that it was a fair way to do it.
