I have an incompetent cervix, and preterm labor. I have been on bedrest since 27 weeks (ARGHH!) and in a good deal of discomfort from the baby being so low. Somehow I have made it to term, I am only 2.5 cm dilated and 90% effaced, and baby is at +1. Here's my issue, my ob wants to induce on Feb 26, due to "risk of rapid labor onset". He wrote the orders out for Pitocin, but I am terrified of taking it. (autism, jaundice?) I am only 15-20 minutes away from my hospital, and I am already on maternity leave, so I don't think I will have any problems making it on time...I would feel selfish inducing anyway even though I can't hardly even walk at this point. I am starting to have contractions that I can feel but they are not regular or painful, and my discharge is looking more clear and thinner, whatever that means!
Was anyone else induced with a method other than Pitocin? What about sweeping the membranes instead?
