I've been married for almost 2 years now but we still haven't got any child..
I'm a smoker who smoke 10 sticks of cigarettes and I take alcohol once a week (usually i get hangover afterwards).
Is it because I'm a smoker and a drinker,it's hard for me to get pregnant??

it is advised to cut out alcohol and cigarettes when trying to concieve and during pregnancy. If you have been actively trying for a baby for 2yrs without any luck then I would suggest that you go and see your doctor who can carry put some basic fertility tests such as a semen analysis for your husband and blood tests and an ultrasound scan for you. Its also advisable for you to have a smear if your due one. Some healthy couples can take 18mths to conceive so try not to worry to much, take folic acid and make sure that your having sex when your most fertile each month. You can use ovulation tests or an ovulation calender to determine this. Being over or under weight can also effect a womans fertility. If you or your partner do have a infertility problem then there are alot of treatments that can help which include, ovulation drugs and ivf. For more natural treatment you can buy agnus castus which can help balance a womans hormones and help regulate her cycle. good luck

HI, although smoking and drinking is not good if you are trying for a baby i don't know how this would stop you conceiving if you smoke only 10 a day and only drink once a week, you should try to cut down though for your health, have you been to see a doctor to ask if there is a reason you can't conceive, maybe you should consider this, but some people take longer than others to get pregnant, take your husband with you too it may be him and not you that has the problem, but don't panic there might not even be a problem. good luck for the future im sure you'll get pregnant soon.

I would say yes but even if it is not the answer, Do you really intend to keep doing all that after you get pregnant and while you are carring the child? Why don't you do yourself a favor an quit before you get pregnant because honey it ain't just going to happen one day when you discover you are with child. If you can't stop now how do you think you will be able to just stop cold turkey that one day you find out? Most women don't find out they are pregnant until they are 2 or 3 months pregnant. That would be 2-3 months of smoking and drinking. Why do that to a child? If you really want to have a child and really care about the child you would like to have then, YES, STOP DRINKING AND SMOKING NOW. Not tomorrow, or next week, but now! Why would anyone want to hurt their child? It's not right.

You seem to know the answer yourself anyway I'd say.

Smoking and drinking can affect your chaces of getting pregnant - DEFINITELY!

There are so many people who get pregnant no matter how they choose to live their lives but if you've been trying for two years without any change in the more desructive things you do to your body then you really should stop doing them.

Also, at this poiint you really should seek out some basic fertility tests from your Dr. Any couple can have problems that may need some fertility treatment whether they smoke and drink or are completely healthy it's not neccessarily connected but after two years you really need to know if there is a problem.

smoking and drinking isnt healthy for you full stop, but i wouldnt say thats defo a reason you havent concieved you didnt say how long you have been trying to concieve for so ill base it on the 2 year period you have been married,if this is the case you need to visit your doctor and let them know this as any normal healthy couple should concieve within 12 months of trying,id say an average is 6-7months trying it happens.ofcorse if your missing your fertile times this couldbe a cause but id a thought in a period of 2 years you might have done that by now,the only avice and best advice is see your doctor you may have problems if it has been that long.smoking does decrease fertility but it doesent stop you concieving

If you're trying for a baby it's advised to limit your alcohol intake to 1 - 2 units a week, and to give up smoking, as you'd be advised to quit on finding out you're pregnant anyway. Go to the doctors and have him run some tests on you and your husband to rule out anything preventing you from conceiving. Good luck.

I smoked before I was pregnant (about 20 a day) and while i was pregnant I cut down a lot. I used to go out most weekends before I was pregnant too and had more than a few drinks sometimes.
And I didn't even try to get pregnant. my husband smokes too.
hope it'll happen for you soon.
Stopping smoking is still a good thing to do. I'm still trying! :)

Could be, but not necissarily. I got pregnant both times and I smoked more than a pack a day. I also drank quite frequently and smoked marijuana and took pills. You could have something else going on, you should see a fertility specialist.

Oh, I quit all those things when I got pregnant!

Smoking and alcohol does reduce fertility but I would go to the doctor and have some tests done to determine if there's a problem.
