A co-worker of mine lost his 3 week old baby. The baby died from heart failure.

I went to the funeral today and hugged him and then hugged his wife and said, "I am so sorry." She said "Thank you for coming, it means so much to us"

I smiled and said "I am glad I could be here for you." Then I looked at all the flowers around us and the casket and said, "Everything looks so beautiful for him."

Afterwards I was thinking maybe I shouldn't have said that because its supposed to be a sad time, not a "beautiful" time. I meant that everything was beautiful for the baby and it showed how much he was loved.

What do you think? Do you think she knew what I meant?

my pregnancy is not something that I anticipated. I'm only 16 and i didn't have sex because i wanted to. there is a thing called rape and i don't want to keep a child that will constantly remind me of that! had i gotten pregnant in other terms, yes, i would have kept the child.

Over the past few months here in the state of Michigan there have been atleast two seperate cases where children have been adopted only to be brutally murdered or beaten.
One little boy was killed by his foster parents. Just today I was reading the paper and it said twin 8 year old girls were beaten with exercise ropes, burned with cigarettes and severly beaten. Don't they have people that are supposed to come out to the house and check on these children when they are placed inside of these homes. Why do these monsters even adopt children only to do this to them?? I love children and it breaks my heart to see this. Can someone please explain this to me??

I am 6 1/2 months pregnant and have an 11 month old at home and I am going through postpardum depression and dealing with the hormones of pregnancy at the same time. The doctor gave me Prozac and told me it was safe but the pharmacist told me it was not safe. Has anyone heard of negative effects on unborn baby from Prozac and does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this another way?

I haven't had my period for 48 days now. I took a pregnancy test yesterday and it came out negative. My underwear has been getting wet with this clear liquid and I've been having really bad stomach cramps all the time. I thought I was just ovulating but this has been going on for over 2 weeks now. I've also gained about 25 pounds since October and I've more tired than normal. Can i still be pregnant or what is wrong with me? I have a doctors appointment next week but I'm really curious about what it could be or if I could be pregnant.

I've been trying to wean him for almost a month now. He just won't give up though. Everytime I sit down he comes and gets in my lap and actually digs into my blouse so that he can breastfeed. He constantly wants to nurse. Any ideas or tips?

First baby was 5 days late, labor was 11 hours, she came out very easily in 2 pushes.

Second baby was 17 days early, labor was about 5 hours (but not very strong labor pains until the last 2 hours), went from 4cm to 10cm in 20 minutes, came out very easily in 2 pushes.

Pregnant again, due in March, what are the chances this baby might be early and come with an even quicker labor? I know there is no scientific proof on these sorts of things, but I'm just curious to see what other's experiences are.

My last period was 10-23-06, before that period I was 13 days late. My periods are always irregular. I went the whole month of November not having a period. I have never done that before. My husband and I were trying to concieve during the month. I took 2 pt's and both were negative, but I thought I may have been taking them too early. Today is 12-1-06 and I have, I'm assuming, started my period. It started VERY light, carried on a little stronger during the day, and now it has lightened up again. I have been cramping really bad (which I NEVER do on my regular periods). I took a test 4 days ago and it was negative. Should I try again after this "period(?)" stops? And when? I have never had children before and this is all very new to me. Thanks for your time.

I mean, what's the point of that? You bathe them before bed then they go to sleep, they wake up and get bathed again? I somehow don't see how a child gets dirty enough to be bathed again overnight while sleeping. Can someone enlighten me here?

i am pregnant with my 4th child. and i told my husband and i just told my sons. my oldest son hates the idea of having a baby sister, or another baby brother. he isnt very happy, and i didnt think he would be. i know he will get better, but i dont know how he would feel if we had a 4th son. is it going to be hard for my two 12 year olds and my 14 year old to get used to a new baby? do you think it was a bad idea to wait this long to have another baby?

i more or less live with my son and daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren, which they love it, but her friend thinks since i am here i will just keep her child when needed. i do not want too. i have told them so. the girl thinks money is the issue, and she left $10 in a bag for me the second time she left her child. wow. but the child really gets on my nerves,i love it, but do not want to watch it. should i just leave and go somewhere else the night before or what. see, i have not told her i would watch her child, but just that one time, but i think she believes i will watch her tommorrow.she got a saturday job for extra cash. i feel bad for her, but i do not want to watch her child. even though i am not working anywhere else. she told me she would give me some cig. money. wow.

It seems like people on here expect or need to fit into a generalization or stereotype.

If you don’t lean 100% left or right people claim you “contradict” yourself.. Has American society gotten that far where we belief everyone can fit into a generalization? Do you judge a parenting style when you just hear one parenting skill of theirs? Don’t you think there is a median somewhere between issues such as spanking, breastfeeding, attachment parenting, and discipline? What generalizations or stereotypes do you feel you fit into? If you could explain to someone your point on any parenting issue that you are normally judged about, what would you say?

I feel even in parenting we have to take these generalizations to the highest degree--to the point where you can only be one certain way.

The lists goes on and on. I truly think it’s sad, as parents, that we cannot all get along. That even though we may not agree, we are all doing what we feel is best for OUR families and OUR children.

I hope this makes sense!
