I was told that I can take tums while I'm pregnant. I have also heard that they can give you cavities. Has anyone else heard this?

I pretty much lived off of Tums when I was pregnant...but I never heard anything about cavities. I'm 26 and never had a cavity.

You can definitely take them while you're pregnant (the only thing they make when combined with stomach acid is water!); I've never heard anything about their causing cavities. On the contrary, as cavities are often initially caused by acid, I would think they might actually help prevent them.

well they can get stuck in your teeth like candy, just take them in the morning and then brush afterwards.

but lots of women loose calcium, and lose teeth while pregnant

personally

3 kids 3 busted teeth.

so you can't prevent that

also if your teeth are health and you've been to the dentist,

there is no reason you should get a cavity from TUMS

especially if you've not had any to date.

get a cleaning and let the hygenist make some suggestions.

good luck

Taking them is fine, they are calcium. If anything they should strengthen your teeth....like milk.

By the way.....a glass of milk will kill the heartburn too, so if the tums worry you, just drink milk.

Good luck
