Don't think of it as a craft an older child could do...like mking reindeers etc..if you want something that is made truly by your her own her own..get some markers..colorfuil paper and have her color..or get glue and sparkles and let her glue sparkels..(be prepared for the picture to end yp being a huge pile of glue and a few sparkels..lol)

For art at that young age..it is the process of her doing that matters..not the end results. (you could take pics of her doing the craft to send along with notes.."hmm..needs more glue it seems" things like that with each picture. )..Or you could bake with her...let her do the stirring etc...

Hand print Christmas tree cards!

Using your daughters hand stack three hand prints, overlapping a little bit and then flip the paper around so that the fingers are the bottom part of the tree. Paint a little brown for a trunk and then you can use her fingers to paint different colored "ornaments".

We did this on card stock last year and made really cute cards or pictures that we put into a simple frame.

You could also do footprint reindeer, also very cute.

This is a really cute Idea, I made one in K and my g-ma still has it on her wall.

All you need is

Plaster O'Paris
A heavy duty paper plate
Some Glitter
Markers and stuff to decorate.

Mix the plaster o paris and pour some into the paper plate (Make sure its heavy duty or the plate might buckle) Have your daughter place her hand print to create a mold of her hand.

Leave it over night to dry and afterwards have her decorate it with markers, glitter, etc.

You can make one for each individual family member. There so adorable and they are custom made for that person so its from the heart.

Salt dough ornaments! I dont have a recipe- just do a search for the recipe online!

you can use cookie cutters for shapes, or make circles and put her handprints inside! remember to poke a hole before you bake it though!

After it cools pull out paints, glitter, ribbons and let her help decorate!

I also hand made all of my cards this year, and let my 2yr old color on the inside (its just a lot of scribbles) and I wrote a note for him in the card saying merry Christmas Grandma or something like that, and stuck a picture of him in the card!

Last year I made these with a 21 month old, a 3 year old and a 4 year old. http://www.dltk-holidays.com/xmas/mrudolf.html (we sent them in the mail.

I love DLTK KIDS website they have a lot of cool craft projects that can be customized for any age.

http://www.dltk-holidays.com/xmas/crafts.html

As for a special present for her daddy. Anything with her hand/foot prints.
I am going to take my nieces hand/foot print with some pictures in a frame for my brother and his girlfriend.

As for the kids I take care of we are going to make this with the hot chocolate fixings in it. http://www.dltk-holidays.com/xmas/mpastrybag.htm for their family and friends along with chocolate spoons and a candy cane. Plus maybe some homemade cookies or candy. They are also getting photo cards in the mail.

You can also make something with your daughter and have her decorate plain wrapping paper with paint then wrap whatever you make in it.

She could sponge paint on something. They make some cute sponges for painting and there are many different things you could do with that, from something simple like a card, to painting with fabric paint on shirts or pillows or whatever. You could help get the paint onto the sponge and then let her go (show her what to do and let her practice it on paper some before you do the actual project so she can figure out what to do.) Kids that age like to paint and they like to squish the sponges....we used to do it with the toddlers at the preschool where I used to teach.

Maybe get a puzzle and have her use a glue stick to put the pieces around a picture frame..and then put her little picture in the frame...

well my favorite is the hand reindeer. you need scissors, glue stick, brown paper, green paper( or any color for background), crayons ( you could use any thing get creative. take there hand and trace it on the brown paper, cut it out ( if there hand is really small you could do two), past it on the background sheet and decorate.
