We just moved here in California a year ago. i gave birth with my daughter on May. I just realized that I dont have her birth certificate yet. I remember when we were in Hawaii, i received from the mail my son's birth certificate like 2 months after his birth. my daughter is now 7 months and i didnt get anything yet. i filled up some paper works concerning her certificate after leaving the hospital. What should i do? do i need to call and file something? I have asked some friends but they dont remember doing anything. Please help me with this matter. whoever aswers this question - i do appreacite your help. Thanks

With my son who was born in Ca there was a form I had to mail to get an original birth cert. It was free because it was the original not an original copy. You can type the county you live in and birth certificates in your browser search bar. This should lead you to a site where you can order it. The hospital has already sent the info to your county. Good Luck and Take Care.

Call the hospital where you gave birth. They can check their records and make sure everything was sent to the State depart. They may be able to get you a new one as well.

Even though you filled out the paper work at the hospital, you still have to contact the vital records office and send like $12 to receive it. So ask the hospital or court house for the number to contact them.
