My last period was 10-23-06, before that period I was 13 days late. My periods are always irregular. I went the whole month of November not having a period. I have never done that before. My husband and I were trying to concieve during the month. I took 2 pt's and both were negative, but I thought I may have been taking them too early. Today is 12-1-06 and I have, I'm assuming, started my period. It started VERY light, carried on a little stronger during the day, and now it has lightened up again. I have been cramping really bad (which I NEVER do on my regular periods). I took a test 4 days ago and it was negative. Should I try again after this "period(?)" stops? And when? I have never had children before and this is all very new to me. Thanks for your time.

I would test again in the morning as well. Implantation bleeding/spotting can start out light and get a little heavier. If it's an atypical "period" I would try again.

I'm hoping for you... pray I miss my period next week :)

If this blood continues to be abnormal (compared to your usual period) then I'd wait a few days and test also with the first morning urine. If the blood continues like a normal period, then I'd probably not bother this time around.
Can I please suggest, like I have been to everyone to read the book "Taking charge of your fertility" by Toni Weschler. This is WONDERFUL and full of information. If you were charting (like the book suggests) you would get an indication from your temp what is going on with your cycles and the drop in temp indicates that pregnancy would not be positive this month, however, if you were bleeding and had 18+ consecutive days of high temp, this would be "spotting" and indeed read as being pregnant.
Best of luck to you - please read up on this - I promise you will learn so much about your body and its cycles.

I suggest trying another tomorrow morning, with first mornings' urine. It will be more concentrated & will give you a better chance of an accurate result.

If you still don't have a normal period, you could request a blood test from your doctor.
