Pregnancy & Parenting - 11 November 2006

I have been taking my twin nephews one at a time to give their mother a break. My 2 year old is very very jealous. She will push and shove to be in my lap, behind me, anywhere the baby(s) are at the time. One of them has a feeding tube and we can't risk it being pulled out. How can I help my daughter adjust to their being baby visitors over? She is not at an understanding of "helping" yet as she can not understand much about direction. I do give her hugs and loves while they are here as well. Any tips you can offer?

My mom has had both a miscarriage and a stillborn babies. The only thing I've heard about them is that they were miscarried and stillborn, and nothing after that, I've heard of no names, no genders, no graves, nothing, so I don't know if they have those things or not. Is it appropriate to name and bury miscarried and stillborn babies?

How would it affect his personality? I mean unreasonable things like when he throws tantrums, cries for unknown reasons (not the nappy, not hungry, not hot, not cold, etc.), or when he falls down by himself. I know the latter may be a bit cruel, but I'm just curious, you know. Not being a parent yet... By the way, we're talking about children aged 2 and above, not babies. Toddlers, I guess. Psychologists' and paediatricians' views are welcome.

my son will be 18 months old at christmas... by big gift i mean like the Santa Gift.... my family does christmas where santa always brought us one BIG thing.. then mom and dad had the rest of our presents from them under the tree.... i have NO clue what to get my.... i havent really saw anything that i really liked.. i've already got him Elmo Knows My Name... hes crazy about elmo and the teletubbies and he will occasionly watch barney....hes not a typical 17 month old... hes 3 ft 3 inches tall and 37.5 lbs... he's like the size of a 3 year old.... and he's ahead in talking (for kids his age)... any good ideas... My daughter is only 2 and a half weeks old, and for 4 days last week I had the Flu. She ate normal during the time that I had the Flu, the doctor said it was ok to feed her breast milk still.... But now I feed her and shes not getting more than an ounce or so and neither do I when I pump. How do I get my milk back? Could it have disapeared when I was sick? I didn't take any meds but Tylenol for my fever..... Thank you.

I have a 20 month old son - sleeps 13 hours, eats like a horse and as a result is extremely active. During the summer, we went to the park for hours a day. Now with the cold and wet weather, we are stuck inside a lot. Does anyone have any activity suggestions that will keep him entertained and burn some energy?

How to get a 3 year old to sleep?
I babysit for alot of kids, but this one is the worst. He is a 3 year old boy. I usually bring him up around 8:35( bed times 8:30) and read him a story..then he wants another. By the time im back downstairs without him its 9 ish. Then he comes right back down within 10 min and has some lame excuse. I dont know what to do and the mother is not helpful with advice at all....... answers appreciated asap im leaving to watch them in 10 .Im not his mother, im a 15 year old babysitter...so i cant not buy him something or cut his naps down..and he can get out of his bed on his own. I know bribary is bad, but should i use it?

There just never seems to be anytime for my marriage. Kids go to bed at 9 and dont actually get to sleep till almost midnight. By the time kids are sleep i am so tired i just want to go to sleep. I am told once you have kids there is no private time for parents. Why should we have to put all whole lifes on hold for our children? Why is it absolutly everything we don has to be about our children? Parents need parent time to be just themselfs.

I am always stuck in the middle between my husband and children. My husband is a very controlling man. When he wants somthing done he wants it done now. He gets yelling a screaming and always the kids run to me.He likes things his way or the highway. He is always saying go to mommy shell give you what you want she always does. It dont help when his sister is always saying that we let the kids do what they want. I do not believe in hitting my children but his sister is forever saying theres nothing wrong with a slap on the ***. Weve tried that it dont work. As my oldest son gets older their fights are more like brother fights then parent and child. I feel like my husband is very childish. My oldest son wouldnt clean his room so my husband picked everything up off the floor and threw it in the garbage. Of course my sond yugioh cards where part of that clean up and that started a fight. Then i had my parents phoning me and says what right does he have to throw my oldest sons cards out.

Hi There, well here's my story i am 18 years old i had my last period on 11th September 2006. I took a pregnancy test on Monday 2nd October which showed up negative.
i then took another one Thursday the 12th 4 days after my period was due and it was positive.
I attended the early pregnancy unit as i was having light period like pains but NO bleeding they carried out an internal vaginal scan they found a sac and a baby but no heart beat. The doctor has asked me to go back in 10 days for another scan..Does anyone have any suggestions on how far gone i am or why they did not find a heart beat for the baby ?? Help would be very much appreciated. Thank you...x

We can't get a vege into her for nothing, sigh. I do 'slip' them in quesedillas. Also, a while ago she would eat chicken no prob. Now, not-so-much. Concerned over her lack of protein...esp during this prime 1) brain development time and 2) acquiring 'tastes' time. Aside from fruit, we do not give her sweets. If she had six bottles of milk a day, she'd be perfectly fine. BTW...her weight gain is fine @ 25lbs. Tx-in-advance!
