My son spends a lot of time at his grandmothers house. Now my son prefers to stay there, and i dont blame him bc he is like a king there. He will go and spend the night over there probably as much as he is here. I don't really mind bc hey love having him and he loves being there.

The thing is that he is potty trained. We worked on that for quite some time. The problem is that he wont go to the potty when he is at home. He will do all kinds of stuff at his grandmothers. He wil go potty b himself, get his own drinks, wash his hands, brush his teeth, and so much stuff independtly. When he comes home he reverts into a baby. He won't do anything for him self. I've tried and tried with rewards and punishments and talking to him. He has 2 younger brothers at home. I've thought about the attention thing, but he gets alot of attention and praise. How can i get him to be more independent at home?

He is a relativly good and smart boy.

Why is it when alot of women, and men, who have unprotected sex, become surprised and sometimes disappointed when they find that she may be pregnant? It shows how much power sex has over our minds. It's like they want to forget what could happen, but when it does happen, all of a sudden, they're concerned.

I was at a bar/restaurant with my husband and his brother in law and his wife (they were visiting so we took them out) and I had a baby 2 weeks earlier. I had been dying to fianlly have a drink after being pregnant and dealing with my toddler at the same time. I saw an old friend from high school there and I told her I had a baby 2 weeks ago and she said "well what are you doing here?!" I said well my baby is with her grandmother and we needed to get out. After I left I was getting more and more upset with her comment, i should have said something like "that's rude, what is that supposed to mean, I'm a bad mother?!" I wish so babdly I had said something, should I say something to her the next I see her? I shouldn't right, maybe she is just jealous because she is still single with no children.

My daughter moved back in with me in June, after having a hard time with her roomate. She told me she would pay rent and part of the utilities. When she came back home she had a brand new laptop, a month later she decided to buy a $700 diamond ring but she has no money to make her car payments or helping out with the monthly bills in the house. I never saw an effort from her side.

Instead when I approach those issues
she gets really smart with me, gets an attiude, yells at me, tells me that I am a bad mom and reminds me her money issues are not my business. She is convinced that she can say whatever she wants to me, that would be her constitunitional right. She calls that freedom of speech.

She is changing things around the house when I am not there. I feel helpless and used. It seems like she runs over me. I can't even go out, have friends over and dating for me is impossible.
Does anyone has an advice for me?

I have a 17 month old girl (and an 8 wk old girl). I was doing so well feeding my 17 month old healthy easy meals, but now that I have another little one, life has become a little bit harder in that area. Does anyone have any easy, healthy toddler meal ideas? Breakfast, lunch or dinner? I dont care. Thanks!

My son has finally made it to the big day, and I am so proud of him, I was a teenager when I had him, and He has been such a joy to me, although we have had our problems,as every parent has, when he was 15 2weeks from being 16, with me not knowing he started skipping school, did it for almost a month, I got the letter in the mail to go to court for it long story short he ended up quitting school, after that year was over he found out quitting was not going to get him anywhere so he decided to start school again the following school year, and he is doing so well now, he even made the national honors society, and Im so darn proud of him, and I tell him all the time, so In honor of him turning 18 and getting honors I want to do something special, but truth be told I dont have much money to spend, any suggestions

My 2.5 yr old is so loud. Sometimes I just can't take it, when I am trying to hear what my husband is saying or when the baby is sleeping he'll scream so loud and I tell him "shhh baby is sleeping, please stop screaming" and he'll do it louder and nonstop just to get a rise out of me. I can ignore it most of the time but sometime it just really gets on my nerves and after warning him several times I just grab him and put him in his room and shut the door for 2 minutes. How does everyone else deal with it? And please don't tell me to ignore it, I mean sometimes I can't even get a word in edgewise at doctor's visits or speaking to someone important on the phone for 2 seconds.

I am having issues with my daughter. She has thing about lying about everything...and I do mean EVERYTHING. I've talked to her calmly about how it hurts me when she lies and that it makes it harder to believe her when she is actually telling the truth. I got a phone call from the teacher just the other day about her lying about her homework. I have tried grounding her, taking away priveleges and when nothing else seemed to work, I spanked her. But its like its not sinking in. What am I doing wrong?? Could there be something going on in her brain and maybe she just doesn't realize she's lying anymore?? I feel like such a failure....

There are multiple reasons why a person may be a single parent (male or female) yet politicians/commentators/media etc all perpetuate the story that single mothers are the cause of many societal problems (yet as some studies suggest it may be the accompanying phenomena such as low income which can lead to the detrimental behaviour in question not always the single parent household itself..) such as delinquency.

As a single parent it irks me no end that as a good, responsible mother the notion is forwarded that somehow my family is disfunctional because there is no male in it.

FTR like most single parents, single parenthood is not a choice in so far as if the option of having a loving, supportive partner was available ofcourse that would be preferable.

Yet raising a child alone, whilst being rewarding is very challenging and so to face this additional prejudice is unfair in many cases.

At the same time, absent fathers never make the headlines even when abandon their children

We have a doppler at home. We've listened for baby's heartbeat in various areas of my belly beneath the navel area, but we're not certain of whether it's mine or baby's. There are 3 different beats, but 2 don't match mine. Me and my husband have checked my pulse and it was slower. The story goes a little deeper. I've taken countless urine pregnancy tests that were all negative and I get the results of my blood test on Monday.
Just a note to the ttcs. I have a friend who gave birth this year whose pregnancy never showed up with the urine pregnancy tests, but found out she was 4 months along with the blood test. I hope that gives a little hope to the ttcs in the world.

im 17 and im pregnant. i was pregnant earlier this year but i was only 16 and my mom made me abort. i dont want to do that again. i will be turning 18 when the baby is due. i think i should be able to keep it because i will be older than i was the first time. i know it will be hard but nobody wants to kill their baby. my boyfriend is on my side and said hes fine with whatever decision i make. but he just tells me he doesnt want me to ruin my life. im still in school. i graduate in 2008. i just need advice please :-(

ps. i was also thinking of telling my mom when i was atleast 4 months so the baby would be more developed and she wouldnt make me abort this time.

He always was sleeping this way.
In the day he falls asleep and sleeps the best in the pram, in the evening at breast at the same hour. I don't intend to wean very soon but...
What others sleep tips can I use?
What's next and about when? I mean, it's obvious he will not be like this all life but how things can change without too much pain?
How did you pass through something similar?

(excuse my English)

I have a toddler who I have never smacked, slapped or spanked. He spilt a cup of juice the other day and my dad piped up with 'you would have got a belting for that when you were small' I was pretty shocked by it, I mean he is only two and it was an accident, not that he would have deserved to have been hit even if it wasn't an accident. I am a bit scared to leave him alone with my dad now incase he punishes my little one in this way.
Do parents still do this with their kids today or is it an old fashioned way of dealing with bad behaviour? I have never made a concious effort not to slap my son I have just never considered it. To be honest he has never made me so mad that I have hit out at him. I hope I never do because as an adult I feel I should be able to control my anger when dealing with a child otherwise who is more of a child me or him? I know some of you will probably get mad about my way of thinking but be honest do you really go away and think about your childs misbehaviour
