is it ok to try to switch my 10 month old to regular milk? She has been on nutramigine but, now she has outgrown her allergy to milk. It seems that the formula is not filling her up. If I do switch what is the best milk?

That's the same age I switched my son. I would have switched him sooner but the Dr told me formula for a year. You can tell when you kid is ready to be off the formula and on to milk and solids.

Whole milk, give her cheerios to munch on, spaghetti cut up very small. Basically almost anything you eat she can eat, just make sure it's mashed very good or cut up small.

Sounds like she needs more solid foods in her diet. Try doing breakfast lunch and dinner with a snack between each meal. They make those lil' entrees for babies now or go to stage 3 in her foods. I use to add a little rice cereal to my sons food so it would fill him up more. He doesn't drink much milk anymore. My doctor told me I had to wait until my son was 12 months old before I could go to regular milk. It has something to do with the vitamins and nutrition the formula and breast milk have. Once they turn a year old the doctor wants them on whole milk for the calcium. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

I believe that you should wait until the baby is 1 year old. you should talk to your baby's doc about it. most likely your doc will advise you to continue with formula until the baby is 1, they really need that nutrition for the whole year. When the baby turns 1 then you can start by mixing the formula bit by bit with regular vitamin D milk. You should not use any milk but Regular vitamin D milk, not 2% or low fat milk. Bit by bit you can add more and more cow's milk to your baby's formula until it is all milk. But you have to do it very slowly.

they say wait til your baby is a year old and thats odd that the formula is feeling once you switch to milk she will be getting less nutrients/vitamins and so on also they say whole milk once you do make the switch

you probably shouldn't switch her without doctor's consent. But you should be feeding her maybe step 2 or 3 baby foods by now, even some solids. Milk shouldn't fill her up..it's not her main food source anymore...it's just a beverage now!

we switched my son to baby food already. only gets formula at night if he wakes up. he seems satisfied. He's 11 months.

"We?" Ha. Who am I kidding. Since the baby got here, momma and grandma have all the juice around my house!

No dairy milk until 12+ months.
Formula or breastmilk only until then.
How much solids does she eat?

I'd ask the Dr, but generally, you should wait until she turns 1 year old.

I'd first discuss it with her doctor. They're the best one to get that sort of advice from.
