It depends on the kid and where she's going. If she's mature and has a specific destination, then you can be a little more relaxed with the time. If she's just "hanging out" and you don't have an exact knowledge of her whereabouts then 8:00 pm is fine.

Obviously, if you've asked all the right questions (Where are you going? How are you getting there? Who's going with you? Is there an adult or is it a public place? What are you going to do?) then you should have a good idea of how much time she'll need. Then, because we sometimes forget what it's like to be fifteen, add an extra half hour.

The easiest and best way to keep track of your kid is to be the place where the kids like to hang out. Not because you let them do anything they want, but because you will be near by (but not hovering over them) and provide them with space to watch a movie, listen to music and just hang out. It also gives you a chance to meet your child's friends and get an idea of who she can go running around with and who she can't.

Talk to your child and tell her that you worry about the people she may come into contact with. Make sure she knows that she has to stay with a group in public places, to check in often and enroll her in a self defense class specifically for teen girls.

In another few years she'll pretty much be setting her own limits and you want to give her all the tools she'll need to be safe.

Good Luck!

Depends on the girl. How responsible is she? What are her grades like? What are her friends like?

If she's a 4.0 student, involved in many extra activities at school, never gets in trouble, and has similar friends...then she has shown her trustworthiness and earned some freedom.

If she goes out and gets in trouble every time she leaves the house, then she shouldn't go out at all without supervision.

i'm 15, and i say 11. my school's dance parties end at 11, i mean it's a school, i don't think they would end it at 11 unless they thought the parents would agree.. i think it's a pretty good curfew. just so long as i'm not alone, my mom doesn't really worry.

8:30 p.m. weekdays
11:00 p.m. weekends

seems fair to me......but don't make it later than 11....bcuz if the girl is 15, she would already have a lot of hormones running thru her............
