How to get a 3 year old to sleep?
I babysit for alot of kids, but this one is the worst. He is a 3 year old boy. I usually bring him up around 8:35( bed times 8:30) and read him a story..then he wants another. By the time im back downstairs without him its 9 ish. Then he comes right back down within 10 min and has some lame excuse. I dont know what to do and the mother is not helpful with advice at all....... answers appreciated asap im leaving to watch them in 10 .Im not his mother, im a 15 year old babysitter...so i cant not buy him something or cut his naps down..and he can get out of his bed on his own. I know bribary is bad, but should i use it?

Try taking him up at 8pm and reading him stories, singing his favorite song, and giving him cuddles. Make the transition from awake time to sleep time slow and calm.
When you have a chance, reading a few books like THE NO CRY SLEEP SOLUTION for toddlers and preschoolers by Elizabeth Pantley may give you (And his MUM) some new ides to help him sooth in to sleep

GOOD LUCK

Well thats really difficult because he is only 3, probably the easiest thing you can try is staying with him until he is asleep. Start by sitting on his bed, when that works move to the middle of the room, then the doorway, etc. If you keep trying to leave him alone he is just going to keep trying to follow you to see whats going on, thats part of being 3. Good Luck.

See what needs to be done is that you have to sit down with his mother and ask her what needs to be done in this case cause I
understand that you do not want to bribe him and really that is wrong and they get used to that and expect it all the time. My suggestion is to leave him in his room and let him cry. If he gets out put him back in without force. He will learn that he needs to sleep

put him in a very warm bath, let him play in the water until he wants to get out, then give him some warm milk before putting him to bed. also if you watch him early, you can let him ride his bike, run around the back yard, or other physical activities that will wear him down.
