I have three of the most wonderful boys in the world. My two older boys are from my previous marriage. There father lives 6 hours away and hardly has anything to do with them. He hasn't ever really been very involved in their lives. The oldest is 12 and the younger one is 6. They were 9 and 3 when we divorced. He calls maybe once every 6 months and it's usually only when he wants something. He was in a relationship with a woman and while they were together he would call wanting to see the boys. I would make arrangements with him and they would see him. He has seen them maybe 3 times in the last 3 years. They split up and while he was single he wanted nothing to do with them. Well, since then he has remarried and I feel that his new wife is telling him he should be seeing them. He called a few nights ago and wanted to know if he could have the boys for Christmas? I am completely torn up about this. My boys have NEVER spent a major holiday away from me! What do I do???

I came off the depo in sept 2005 and have since been trying to conceive. I've had acupuncture for the last 2 months but have decided to go see the doctor who said she will do routine hormone blood tests first then take it from there. What are the tests they will do and what will they show?

what about the men who want to raise the children they helped conceive? Why do people say men have absolutely no say in the matter when it takes two to make a child? Isn't that kind of heartless?

I was horrified that KimmyS actually said to put tobasco on this person's child's fingers to make her stop biting her nails. Anyone agree that that is pure child abuse? I hope that parents of grade schoolers and all children know that nail biting is not going to kill a kid. I would find out what is making my child want to bite in the first place.

Tobasco can make a little tongue swell up and children can die from that. What do you think?

I think that putting stuff on their fingers is only going to make the problem worse. If it really is a problem. It is actually a comfort habit. Why are children having to comfort themselves? Isn't that a parent's job? Find out why first. That is where I would focus my attention. Do you agree or not?

Just curious. I know people whose parents were told by the doctor "you're haveing a boy" but had a girl, or the opposite situation. Granted, technology is more advanced than it was 20-30 years ago, but anyone experienced this in recent years?

How long do you have to be in labor for or how far dialated do you have to be before you can get an epidural or whatever? Also, when, if you've opted not to get the epidural is it too late to change your mind?

First let me say that I have four beautiful children and one on the way. One of my twins is becoming a hypercondriac, everyday in the morning before school she claims she doesn't feel well. When I take her to the Doctor he says she's fine. She has even began caring a thermometer in her purse to check her temp every day.

I sincerely feel that she needs more attention and am not sure how to give it to her. I work full time and when I'm home it seems like we never have enough time together and definitely not alone time. Any suggestion on how I can make her feel more loved and help break this cycle?

What are the chances of getting through a labor and delivery without an epidural or the gas and without the use of forceps and plungers? I'm talking giving birth as naturally as possible, no drugs, no surgery, just labor and delivery!

I'm not American so I'm too familiar with the traditions, especially something like baby showers. My friend invited me and she told me I could bring diapers. So, do I wrap them or put them in a pretty bag like for a birthday or would that be too funny (or is that what's expected?)?

Also, what do you really do at a baby shower? Is it like a regular hangout party or is there something special about it?

Can you think of any fun activities he can do with the adolescent grandkids he doesn't know well? What other activities could I plan for those weeks that would be fun for the whole family? All ideas greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

At some point, it just seems that all moms of daughters flip out and start manipulating, triangulating and otherwise mucking up their daughters lives. How can we break the cycle people?
