I'm a bigger gal. We're at a higher risk for some complications, such as pregnancy-induced hypertension (which I have), and gestational diabetes.

Just make sure you and your doctor keep a close eye on these things, but there is absolutely no reason that you can't have a safe, happy, and healthy pregnancy! If only thin women had babies, there would be a lot less people in the world!

Good luck and congrats!

I was overweight when I was pregnant. I didn't have any problems other than pain in my heels because of the pressure, and was 4 days overdue before deciding to induce. However, they say that overweight women are more likely to be overdue, have a longer labor, and have gestational diabetes. However, it's not the case for all so you may not experience any of these.

I mean, while there is a slight risk for some complications, and you have a higher risk of developing things like gestational diabetes, for the most part overweight women have just as healthy pregnancies as smaller women. I'm overweight, and I'm trying for a baby right now (as we speak...I hope I'm pregnant...period not due fo ranother week!!!) but I would just say, just try and eat a well-balanced meal for each meal of the day. Just to make sure that your baby gets the proper nutrients. But yea...big gurls can have healthy lil babies too!!
