Im sorry i had to ask this question but sometimes i get a little scared that there is no one waiting to embrace my son. I believe in our Lord but these thoughts keep running thru my head. He passed away 3 weeks ago and we only found out about his tumor 2 months ago so everything went very fast. My heart feels empty and i cant stop thinking about ways that i may have helped him. If there is a god, then why does he do this? Im sorry, i love god, but sometimes i get angry at him too.

My period isn't due to start until about a week (7 days) from now. The date of sexual activty was about exactly 7 days from today. I did a home pregnancy test this morning. Do you all think that it was a bit too early to take the test?

I'm 40 wks pregnant and have to see my consult in 1 wks time. if i haven't had the baby by then he's going to induce me and i want to go naturally. Babes head is engaged and my cervix is soft, so its alll ready to go, but i think it might need an little helping hand. I really, really want this to happen naturally so i can enjoy the first part of my labour at home and as comfortable as i possibly can be. will try anything, however bizzare!

I do rinse them and put them in the recycling containers for glass, but I was wondering if there are any good uses or crafts that can be used with empty babyfood jars?

Other moms have told me that when you get further along and you see the baby move..sometimes a hand or a foot pushes out your skin and you can see the entire thing..like an outline of it.
I was just wondering if you ever saw this and how far along were you??

I am only ten weeks but I am positive I have been feeling movement since eight weeks, I also found out from my childhood studies course that babies do move at eight weeks, I saw it on a video, they showed us an eight week old fetus moving it's arms.
Anyway I am not due for my first antenatal appointment/scan until I am 12 weeks so is it possible to feel movements this early with single babies or is it more likely in multiple pregnancies?

This my second pregnancy.

It seems you have no free health care. So if you don't have a lot of money and you are going to have a baby what do you do. In Australia there are free (Public) hospitals and some doctors who's fee is covered by the government,or you can see a obyn through out- patients, so it does not have to cost to get pre natal care and to deliver your baby or your stay in hospital. You even get to see a maternal health care nurse for free afterwards (no matter what your income).
But it seems there is nothing like this in America , so what do people do if they have no health insurance to cover the cost? Are there free hospitals?

My daughter is 8 years old and I have a 5 month old also. My 8 year old is not listening. I can tell her something 10-20 times before she MIGHT do what ever it is. In public she is great, listens the first time, has perfect manners and is just excellent, but at home it is awful. My husband and I are both getting extremely frustrated with it. I have tried timeouts, sent to room, taking things away, and grounding her from the park behind our house. Any suggestions on discipline that works?

I am breastfeeding, and baby still wakes 2-3 times a night for feeding. At 6am, he has breastmilk, at 8am he has porridge, with water. At 11am he has a yoghurt, 12.30-1pm he has lunch (homemade food and fresh friut - 5 a day) and water. At 3pm he has finger food or another yoghurt, and at 6pm, he has a meal we eat blended or mashed or more porridge, depending on his mood. During the day he breastfeeds up to 5 times and in bed by 8.30pm, but breastfeeds at, 11pm, 2am, and 4am.

I take:
Multi Vitamins, Folic Acid,Omega 3, Minerals (A-Z), Calcium and
Vitamin D & C.

He was 7 mths on the 3rd Oct 06, and is currently crawling, saying 'da-da' and 'mum' and 'eio' (hello) he understand the word 'no' and shakes his head to indicate refusal. He can sit, stand, and voice his opinion (vehement baby talk) when upset, has 4 teeth (up/dn). Loves red buses, kisses, peek-a-boo and running around in his walker.

He is 18lbs, and family think he has too much variety in his food, do you agree?

He says he is not ready (at 24) to either get married or have a baby, and he won't give me a timeframe in which he will be ready. I would like ideally to get married and have a family but marriage part is not essential. I am 27 and I would like to have a family before I am too old. Despite several discussions I still don't understand why he is "not ready" or what that means and I fear he may never be. I don't want to just go off the pill and surprise him as I don't think this would be honest. I also don't want to leave him as we have a good relationship. How can I persuade him?

Badly want to discuss regaining custody of my 5 year old daughter. So many details and issues it is impossible to include all factors in this forum. I am the biological mother and had custody until earlier this year. My own mother (who I THINK means well but is a bit "different" in her beliefs) lied to me up until the night prior to going to court, saying she was on my side, then gave the court a list of "beliefs" she had , these consisted of things like claiming that friends of mine were actually "boyfriends" (UNTRUE) also things like the fact that I had a neighbor who was facing forgery charges (he was found innocent, but what does this have to to with my parenting skills or with me at all?) This whole thing is nuts. My little girl cries every time she has to go back to her dad, I have to peel her off of me when I take her back to him. I dont talk badly about him around her, she has stated that she doesnt like/love her dad since she was 2 or 3. I am going crazy. Any help?

My 2 year old daughter eats every meal like it is her last. She literally crams things down with both hands, and you can hear her swallow it in big gulps. She is not chewing most of the time, she just swallows. She will eat all 24 hours of a day if you let her, and she can drink a 32 oz soda down and then another within an hour. She has a ferocious appetite! But yet she is only 25 lbs! I have seen her drink down a cup of soda without taking a break once! It is not normal. I have told the doctor this and she seems unphazed. My daughter's diapers sometime has whole chunks of food where she didn't chew it ! Is this normal?

I just put our 9-mo old baby down for a nap. He usually falls right asleep, and naps make him feel better & keep him calm the rest of the day. Usually takes 2 naps during the day, one at 10:00 am next at 2:30 pm. However, today he cries in his crib because he doesn't want to nap.

Is it better to give up on the nap & pick him up? Or let him cry some and fall asleep eventually?

I know the nap will make him feel better the rest of the day. But I read in a book that you "should always respond immediately and completely to your baby's crying". I don't want to neglect him into another Dahmer, but then again will some crying and ignoring by me really hurt him? (Plus I need some time to shower, straighten up the house, etc.) I'm very confused, advice is so conflicting.

This is our 1st baby and have had no problems with him, he is a delight.

My friend just got her kids back out of foster care in Jan 06, the kids were ages 8 and 10. Well, the kids were taken for "dirty house" issues. My friend has cleaned her house and is doing great! Well, the other day while she was napping, the 10 year old was playing with the 8 year old in the middle of the den. According to the 10 year old, he was gonna karate kick his 8 year old bro, the 8 year old drawed up his knee to his stomach, like a crouching position in self defense, (to block the kick) well the older boys foot hit the knee and they heard a small pop, and the older boy went crying to his mom. she felt it was broke and had her neighbor (a veteran 22 year R.N) to look at it. She thought it was broke too, but said that they don't usually put cast on, the only thing a doc could do is make a diagnosis and administer pain medicine. My friend is scared to take the boy to the hospital because of past dealings with Child Protective Services, they just left her alone. What can she do?!!

my daughter had a touch of croup during the summer and we brought her over to casualty as i did not know what it was, she was put on a nebulizer for a few minutes and she was fine after that. She woke at 5 o clock this morning all weezy with that barking cough. Is there anything i can do for her myself instead of waiting 2-3hrs in casualty for 5 mins of treatment? Shes three by the way and she seems ok now but i expect it will happen again in the morning

I started taking my 20 month old daughter to a parent and toddler group over a month ago.
Personally i hate going but i was doing it for my daughter thinking it would help with her social skills but i sit there watching the kids either playing on their own or grabbing toys from one another !!!
I always watch what my daughters doing so as i can correct her if i see her taking a toy from a child that it still playing with it !! But everytime someone makes a grab for her and pushes her over the other mothers just sit ther gabbing and drinking Tea ! My daughter seems to be quite timid and lets them take the toy and looks as if she doesn't know whats going on !!! This angers me as the other parents don't do anything about it !!!
I don't want to go back to the group now as i don't see what my daughter is getting out of this at all !!!
Am i being selfish if i keep her away from it and just leave the social thing till she goes to nursery ????
Am i a silly mum ????
