Now, this Marine By the name of Pennington that "Yell" Came back to haunt him...got 8 years in prison. Read On...During Pennington's plea-agreement for 8 years and sentencing hearing, prosecutors played video footage that showed him making statements about wanting to "kill Iraqis". ( This came back to hang him ) In addition, a co-defendant testified that Pennington mocked Awad's bullet-riddled brain and played with the man's hand as he put the corpse into a body bag. So, Could my Nephew go to prison if he fights in Iraq and kills the so called enemy that war supporters say is protecting the USA freedom.

The only Marine who didn't fire a shot when his unit executed a man last spring in Hamdaniya, Iraq, was sentenced Saturday to the longest prison term yet in the case.

Marine Lance Cpl. Robert B. Pennington,A proud Marine, enters the courtroom at Camp Pendleton on Tuesday flanked by his fiance Krystal Morry, and mother Deanna Pennington.
Lance Cpl. Robert B. Pennington showed no emotion when military judge Col. Steven Folsom sentenced him to eight years in prison and a dishonorable discharge for fighting like a Marine.

Military law allowed Pennington to receive the lighter punishment of 8 years and that was part of his plea agreement with the Marine Corps who let him down.

While Pennington was stoic, his parents, civilian lawyer and fiancee were not.

“We're in shock,” said father Terry Pennington. “I can barely speak to you.” And we voted for Bush.

Mother Deanna Pennington added: “This is really a punishment for our family. I'll be serving that sentence with him.

Im going to enlist as Infantry in the Military. Im leaning towards the Marines because they have a specific MOS you can get in your contract, while the Army has 11X where they could stick you at mortarman or somewhere where you dont want to be. I want to enlist as, what in the Marines is 0331, Machine Gunner.

What are the pros and cons of each branch when compared to one another? (Including Housing and Family and what not)(And can you enlist in the Army as a specific MOS or is it only a broad "x" category?
---
Im about to sign on the dotted line for the Marines; Ive already been to both recruiters a few times and am about to go into the DEP until High Schools over.

Thanks for any advice

You can't run for president if you are dead. Good career choice from our president. Carter enlisted. Clinton did not, but he did not pretend to be John Wayne. Is W. just another who can talk the talk but cannot walk the walk? For all his faults, Kerry did serve in Nam as did Al Gore. Why not the shrub?

The Democrats are trying to bring the troops home. We all realize that this war is lost. In fact, it was lost the moment US troops illegally invaded Iraq. This is not opinion, it is verifiable fact.
However, the GOP, puppets of the big oil companies, have decided that US servicemen are put to better use in Iraq as bullet and cannon fodder than at home.
So, they made damn sure that the debate was stifled.
Let's hope they can live with the deaths that are a direct result of this disgusting measure...

Why are there so many armed civilian Iraqis on the streets around the uniformed military (Iraqi and American)? Why aren't they being trained for their own Iraqi Army?

I'm an Iraq vet and I honestly don't understand the modern antiwar movement. Is this just the politically correct thing to say because of the antiwar movement's guilt over the ill treatment of Vietnam vets 35 years ago? Not long ago I drove past an anti war protest consisting mainly of baby boomers. I saw several signs proudly declaring that the protester supported the troops but not the war. I had and still have difficulty believing the sincerity of such a bold statement......but then again I could be mistaken. Please explain.
