Is Iraq using a military draft with the Iraqi people?

Why are there so many armed civilian Iraqis on the streets around the uniformed military (Iraqi and American)? Why aren't they being trained for their own Iraqi Army?

The Iraqi military (along with other policing agencies in Iraq) are a 100% volunteer force.

Its a common misconception that the armed personnel surrounding coalition forces are civilian. Those are local Police or Government personnel. The turnover rate of Iraqi personnel is so high that many of them do on receive uniforms. Or, for there on safety, choose not to wear them (Uniformed personnel are targets).

It is true that Civilians in Iraq can posses firearms. Those weapons are to be kept in the home for personal defense. If they leave the home it is viewed as an aggressive act.

Are you kidding, er what. You can't even get their so-called army trained.

It takes what, 6-8 weeks to train a snotty nosed 18 year old in the U.S. and turn him/her into a mean, fighting machine. They say they have been training iraqi's for 4 years and they don't have it yet.

Do you remember what Saddam's army eventually did? Surrendered by the thousands. Threw their guns down, dressed as women and disappeared - and like that. Those people don't like armies..They like to run around in the streets shooting their little guns in the air shouting epiteths and praising Allah... They don't want anyone to actually shoot at them.

Every Iraqi household is allowed to own one AK47... you are allowed to own a gun why aren't you in the US Army?

According to the News Media Photos, every Muslim in the world has a ski mask and an AK47.
