Is synchronized cheerleading really a military occupation speciality? I feel better knowing while I was a Marine in the Nam, he was holding his pom poms high.

Yoda Green: Who was a more fortunate son: Bill Clinton or George W. Bush. Give me a break. Bush came from wealth, Clinton earned his way to affluence by intelligence and daring to dream.
What was there for party boy Bush to dream about? He was already there with the silver spoon in his mouth.

mlee: thanks: No one owes me anything. I just hope this generation gets the treatment they deserve when they come home from their assignments. Our Government does not have a great track record of helping those who stand a post against out enemies.

gimpalong: airforce? sounds like civil air patrol. Kerry was there. not even you can deny that. Our officers hated us to be around airmen. They had hair down their backs and were undisciplined. The food sucked as well. The Navy had the best chow.

We ALL knew the Chimp's military record.
It's one of cowardice and nepotism. Remember the song "Fortunate son" by CCR?
It could have been written about him...

I appreciate your serving our country in the Marines, especially during Nam. I feel the vets from that conflict didn't get a fair shake when you came home. Our country owes you much gratitude. I hope we learned from our mistakes and do right by today's service men and women.
I too considered the military service record of a president that says of himself "I am a War President ... that's what I am." You bring up a valid point.
Conservatives, Liberals, Moderates and Independents have one thing in common. The decisions we made or didn't make and supported or didn't support, will be judged hindsight by future generations. I want to work to make a difference for the sake of my children and our country.
Sometimes it's hard to put aside our differences when we feel a lack of respect for someone. But thinking like a team means we can work towards solutions. Not everyone on the team is going to be the cream of the crop or at the top of the game ... Which means some have to try harder to make it work. That's what's so great about being in a Democracy. We all get to choose. We all get to participate. There will always be those who don't pay their dues. It doesn't mean we stop asking for accountibility. We just try harder.
Even if he wasn't your "cheerleader" of choice ;) ...
Don't let it get you down.
Thanks again.

You can stop all the anti-bush crap. If no one told you, GW CANNOT run for president again. IF YOU WERE, IN FACT, A MARINE IN 'NAM, you should think about changing parties. "Hanoi Jane" is coming to the forefront again and she is a left winger. You are in bed with the enemy. Where did you get the idea that GW was a hero? I DO NOT recall that little bit of wisdom that you divulged so eloquently in your (question?) Whether you like it or not, GW is the COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF and will be until he leaves office. That is a little more than synchronized cheer leading. Speaking of holding things high, this question puts your head in the sand and your @$$ high in the air. COMPRENDO?

I guess not being a lib, I actually read. This cheer leading stuff has been common knowledge to the most casual observer for years. I'm not absolutely sure when I read it but it was well before I found out Kerry was suspected of self inflicting wounds and throwing someone else's decorations over the fence.
BTW, I spent my time in Country also. And I was in uniform when you enlisted and I was still in after you got out.

Cheerleading? Where did you get that? I'd like to see some facts.
I still believe that serving in the National Guard is a good thing, and coming back from your gunboat in 'Nam to stab your brothers in arms in the back is bad.
What about Gore, who didn't serve at all, or Clinton, who ran away and hid like a coward? Are either of those better than serving in the Guard?

Bush was the smart one! Kerry got all those wounds and injuries and all it ever got him was a bunch of hateful lies smeared against him from some worthless washed up bar flies-- the "vietnam veterans for truth". Its better to sit on your azz and do nothing and come out ahead than to make any real sacrifice for the country, that what bush's success proves!

"the Nam?" I though you called it simply "Nam." Your avatar doesn't look like a Marine, either.
If you really were by some remote chance, then your service is meritorious, but George Bush also chose a valid option, according to those offered by the U.S. military.
If your argument had merit, then those loading the bombs on planes instead of flying them would be considered dishonorable service.

While I totally agree with your sentiment, I'm finding it difficult that anyone would consider George Bush and "American hero" even in jest. For sarcasm to be effective it must contain an element of truth.
If no one has said it to you recently, thank you for your service.

Riiight, you were a Marine in Nam.
The closest you ever got to an extended tour in Nam was watching Platoon and Full Metal Jacket back to back on Spike TV.

Your dubious claim of 1968-1971 service is duly noted. I guess I expected someone over age 50 to display a certain level of maturity, even if he can't spell "asswipe."
I did 17 more years of service than you did, although I wasn't in Vietnam on account of only just being born in 1968.
