Source: My Nephew ( A Proud Marine...Somewhat ) He states in Boot camp ( 5 months ago ) they all said "Kill Iraqi People" Or Kill Arabs" and they got a pat on the back. Now, this Marine By the name of Pennington that "Yell" Came back to haunt him...got 8 years in prison. Read On...During Pennington's plea-agreement for 8 years and sentencing hearing, prosecutors played video footage that showed him making statements about wanting to "kill Iraqis". ( This came back to hang him ) In addition, a co-defendant testified that Pennington mocked Awad's bullet-riddled brain and played with the man's hand as he put the corpse into a body bag. So, Could my Nephew go to prison if he fights in Iraq and kills the so called enemy that war supporters say is protecting the USA freedom.

First off, Pennington did not simply 'kill the enemy'. He (and the rest of the Pendleton 8) orchestrated & executed a plot designed to intimidate insurgents and create fear in the locals. In short, he actually commited a terrorist act.

Secondly, while I despise most everything you say here, in this case, I do agree that he needs to serve his prison sentence. He dishonored my Marine Corps with his actions. He may not have fired a shot, but he was just as responsible as any of the other traiotrs (NOT Marines, they lost that honor when they committed murder)

So, no Erudite, if your alleged 'nephew' follows the rules of war and military conduct, he will not go to jail. This is another example of why I disbelieve your claim of prior military service, because you would know this if you served. Following legal orders & refusing to follow illegal orders is what every service member is expected to do. Pennington deliberately violated standing orders, commited a felony, participated in a murder, and THAT is why he is going to prison.

Congratulations, you pointed out an example of when a military service member did a bad thing. Andof course, that means ALL military service members do bad things like this.

You're such a troll.

He FUBAR so get over it and send him cookies and books.

HE DISHONORADED the MARINES with his actions and is fortunate that he only got eight years.

I personally have NO USE for the POS! He hid behind the Marines to participate in a dispicable deed. Doesn't the boy have a BRAIN or is he just a sheep or leming that will just walk off of a cliff.

MARINES are TRAINED to determine orders AGAINST ROE and Lcpl Pennington was either a F****** Idiot or just too dumb to make a decision.

If your Nephew follows ROE, Geneva Convention and the rest he can and WILL KILL anyone that he wants without worry. If he becomes a "cowboy" he will get busted and that is NOT GOOD!

ALL Marines are trained to get it done, but there are also RULES to follow. He can NOT just blindly follow orders if he KNOWS that they against the ROE or the Geneva Convention. Other than that he can pretty much do as he is ordered and complete the mission.

I SALUTE your nephew and THANK him for SERVING! He will come back different but BETTER!

is your question should he go prison or could he go to prison, because to answer you directly, yes. for the benefit of public relations the military would lock him up in a heartbeat to prevent the retaliation from a public that is becoming increasingly against the war. As for should he go to prison, hell no. hes out fighting in the force that defends the constitution and the bill of rights. as far as im concearned he should be able to say what ever he wants about the people shooting at him every day.

well they may have got a pat on the back for "aggressiveness"
but they also teach "rules of engagement" to young soldiers marines and airman... then when you get there they teach you about them some more ... people usually know whats right and whats wrong.... in a place like that it might be hard to know which side you stand on ......but you do know
bottom line there has been thousands sent there only a very few have been brought up on charges...odds are in your favor

Yes he should/will go to prison. he has violated several articles of the uniform code of military justice. article 92 for starters (disobeying a lawful order) he did this by murdering someone, Article 99 (Misbehavior before the enemy), Article 118 (Murder). in other words he is screwed.

There is a difference between death as a result of a fight on the battlefield and murder.

Don't blame the Marines - blame the man who did it. The Marines don't turn anyone into robots and disengage his brain.

Yes, he will go to prison if he drags an innocent man out of his house in the middle of the night and executes him. That's where he should go.
