You can't run for president if you are dead. Good career choice from our president. Carter enlisted. Clinton did not, but he did not pretend to be John Wayne. Is W. just another who can talk the talk but cannot walk the walk? For all his faults, Kerry did serve in Nam as did Al Gore. Why not the shrub?

Rick N. Thanks for the correction, however whenever I was stuck in The Nam, I didn't have a make up person available. No one did my nails. Reagan. Poor guy. I thought I had it rough with the Marines.

Young man. Thanks. But, how young can I be if I served in the Marine Corps from 68-71?

I consider the military service record of a president that says of himself "I am a War President ... that's what I am." Especially when he asks others to serve where he would not. He admitted however, that alcoholism was a big part of his life then and it affected his daily living. He also said that he had no real direction during that part of his life and no game plan for himself.

Conservatives, Liberals, Moderates and Independents have one thing in common. The decisions we made or didn't make and supported or didn't support, will be judged hindsight by future generations. I want to work to make a difference for the sake of my children and our country.

Sometimes it's hard to put aside our differences when we feel a lack of respect for someone. But thinking like a team means we can work towards solutions. Not everyone on the team is going to be the cream of the crop or at the top of the game ... Which means some have to try harder to make it work. That's what's so great about being in a Democracy. We all get to choose. We all get to participate. There will always be those who don't pay their dues. It doesn't mean we stop asking for accountability. We have to stay focused on the big picture and remember that we too one day will be judged.

Sometimes even valid points get lost in all the criticism.

Venting Aside, Thinking Allowed.

Correction: Ronald Reagan served before and during WWII. Just because the military decided to use him in another capacity doesn't negate his service.

On May 25, 1937, Reagan was appointed a second lieutenant in the Officers' Reserve Corps of the Cavalry. He served with Troop B, 322nd Cavalry.[2] After the attack on Pearl Harbor, on April 18, 1942, Lieutenant Reagan was ordered to active duty, but because of his astigmatism was prevented from serving overseas.[3] He was first assigned to the San Francisco Port of Embarkation at Fort Mason, California, as a liaison officer for the Port and Transportation Office.[3] At the request of the Army Air Force, he applied for a transfer from the Cavalry to the Army Air Force.[3] In June 1942, was assigned to the First Motion Picture Unit, which made training and education films for the war effort.

EDIT: Did the Corps ask you in what capacity you should be used? Or did they send you where they needed you when they needed you? When a person enters the military, their superiors decide what to do with them. The future president could have just as easily found himself in a tank in Europe.

Thank you for your service.

Young man, you do not have all the facts straight.
And it is a shame that one does not do research b/4 accusing another......don't you think that now is the time for everyone to stop finding blame on the president of this country? Look how you come to Clintons defense for not going in the service....Why don't you find fault with that? Bush never clalimed to be John Wayne....Where do you find these non truths?
Shame.) Check all these on the internet. You will be surprised of what you learn on all these men. ..Kerrys comrades wrote a book about him when he ran for president titled "Unfit for command"....They should know. They were in his unit in Nam with him... ..Don't put down the president of your country. That makes you a traiter! He is just a man doing the best he can for his country and its people.( that means you and me too.) He was elected to this position for another term of 4 years. And he has done his best to keep us all safe.. Calling him a shrub is very disrespectful! Keep in mind that people may feel the same way about you and laugh behind your back...how would that make you feel? don't be that way.....

John Kennedy had a patriotic calling as did both Kerry's and several other noted politicains. I could never understand why John Wayne was always used in military advertisements, he did't serve because he couldn't pass the phy. Bush was absent for his own reasons but didn't mind sending our men into a war that has gone really wrong. Support the troops, let Bush live with what he has done. And everything the guy above me says is 100% true. Thanks.

OK Riddler, I had to give you a thumbs up, but "Dubya" must have at least 1 bad point.

Point of info for "MOM"- The Pres. Is ultimately the servant of the people. To ques. his actions is not being a "traitor". His considering the US Constitution an annoying piece of paper and tampering with it to suit his own ends could be considered "being a traitor". Loyalty to the Constitution ,flag & country are what matters. An elected person should receive the respect he deserves. The "Office of the President" should be respected but if the Person in that position brings dishonour to it, than he should be challanged.

If i ought to Kennedy sent particularly forces advisers and had desperate against a huge American involvement, it became into Johnson that escalated the conflict. and human beings did criticize, louder than immediately. bear in concepts the protests, bear in concepts Kent State. Johnson became into compelled to refuse the democratic nomination because of the fact of it. And it became into the Democrats getting the warmth, seek for the sixty 8 democratic convention. And we've conventional approximately Al Quida considering the fact that Bush the Elder, bear in concepts the 1st WTC bombings. by the type, how come the 1st WTC bombing, which occurred 2 months into Clinton's term, is blamed on Clinton because of the fact it occurred while he became into president and the 2d WTC bombing , 8 months into Jr's term, is blamed on Clinton because of the fact it became into planned for the period of Clinton's term? it might look to reason that if the 1st is Clinton's fault, that should make the 2d Jr's fault and if the 2d have been Clinton's fault than the 1st one became into Bush the Elder's fault.

I wonder what we'd find out about the RIDDLER if we investigated HIS life?
