friend of mine is trying to get me to join the army ,and I have been considering it. I have held down a physcially demanding job for years and haven't had a problem with it. As far as physically going through bootcamp I could do it ,but like I said I am a boxer that has a bad bad temper and I am trained to fight. I don't know if I could take the drill instructors crap. What should I do? In the boxing ring when someone gets in my face i am trained to plow them down. What is your advice?

I'm thinking of joining the Army but dont want to be directly part of the combat. If you have a non-combat MOS can the Army move you into the infantry?

I can't figure this out for the life of me.

So far, the war cost about 367 billion dollars. We are fighting there with about 150,000 soldiers (upper bound).

In other words, we spent about 2.5 million dollars per soldier.

On what?

I can't figure it out. Procurement was minimal (most equipment was pre-existing), maintenance is minimal (as combat action is on very low intensity levels, globally speaking) and we are fighting with a minimal force (relative to historical levels).

I guess I could also be asking why WW2 was so cheap. Comparatively, procurement was huge, ongoing combat operations were on a very intense level and we were involved with upwards of 5 million men.

What gives?

Given that the colour green is considered by artists, designers and pyschologists to be a "restful colour", why then, do the Military "wear green uniforms"?

Or, should the question be, why do artists, designers and psychologists consider green to be a "restful colour"?

Psychologists reckon : http://psychology.about.com/od/sensationandperception/a/color_green.htm

Grean also represents tranquility, good luck, health, and jealousy.
Green is often used in decorating for its calming effect.
Green is thought to relieve stress and help heal.

How ironic is the psychologists reasoning...?

FYI I fully understand why combats are "green"...before you all go off on one

There is a former radar sration adjacent to the former RAF Warboys site in Cambridgeshire. There is a building at the base of a mast that is now used for mobile communications, but is the original WW2 mast. I just wondered if this was one of the H25 radar sites used by the PFF. I have a document that says it is either fighter detection or ADF, which Im sure it isnt. Unless you know otherwise. Thanks.

I agree that the situation in Iraq is a badly managed mess. Given the situation as it exists now what should we do? If the answer is to walk away, then we are saying it is OK for a people to have suicide bombers kill 300 innocent people, that is OK to practice ethnic cleansing, that is OK to treat women as property? This is the situation as it exists now.

If we stay, then how do we realistically change the minds of people who have been fighting among each other since 600 AD? If we find their practices abhorrent is it OK to use force to change it? And if so how much force are we willing to use? Do we clamp an iron fist over Iraq to stop the fighting?

What you you do now?

Im so tired of anti-war protesters. You know, if we ended up getting attacked by another country, they would be begging our Army to go and protect our country so they would be safe. Why is it that when living in a thriving country where you don't have to worry about being blown up, you want to bite the hand that is feeding you, and well, keeping you safe?

I mean maybe they would nuke Israel but they aren't stupid. Think about it. We all know what would happen if anyone nuked anyone in todays world. There would be a massive nuclear war. I don't care if Iran dealt arms to Iraq, there isn't even solid evidence that that happened. But Iran hating Israel has nothing to do with the U.S. Our brown nosing leaders should back off.

1) All US troops pull back to Iran-Iraq, Syria-Iraq, Jordan-Iraq & Saudi-Iraq borders.

2) The Iraq Army (Iraqi Shiites) will take on the Sunni insurgents/terrorists, who they hate, all by themselves.

3) The Iraq Army, unlike the US military, knows who the insurgents/terrorists are, know the territory & they don't have to abide by the same "rules of engagement" that have really hurt the US military. The Iraqi Army can fight by the same "rules" that the insurgents/terrorists fight by & they can win the "hearts & minds" of the Iraqi people who they are fighting for, something a foreign army like the US can never really do.

4) While the Iraqi Army is taking care of all the insurgents/terrorists the US forces will make sure that nobody interferes w/ their progress including Saudis, Syrians, Jordanians, Iranians & Jihadists.

5) The Iraq Army will end the civil war, kill all the Sunni terrorists/Al Qaeda & the US military will make sure that the war stays contained within Iraq.

Do you think women should have to fight combat roles during war? Just wondering since I read about a lot of guys dying in Iraq. Plus aren't American women equal to American men? And a lot of them are also big too. So they can physically handle it.
