All of the reasons for why the U.S. and its allies went to Iraq in the first place have been resolved: there is no longer a Stalinist regime testing the enforcement of international sanctions, potentially developing weapons of mass destruction, or otherwise threatening its neighbors with military adventures. The war against Saddam is over.

The unanswered question is whether or not the U.S. can be helpful in winning the peace, and, if so, should it be doing so primarily through the efforts of its armed forces? Here, the U.S. forces are not well trained for peacekeeping and they have a severe deficit in the cultural skills, such as a knowledge of Arabic, that would be helpful to carrying out this task.

Meanwhile the expense and strain of assigning forces to a mission for which they are not well trained is harming the effectiveness of the U.S. military while it creates inflationary pressures on the economy and pushes up the national debt.

All arguments for remaining in Iraq depend upon some as yet unexplained ability to foretell the future; and, to be able to see that the situation would deteriorate without the presence of U.S. forces. This is a conjecture that cannot be proven.

We need to leave Iraq so Iran can take control of Iraq and create a safe haven for their terrorists. We need to leave Iraq so innocent lives can be snuffed out. We need to leave Iraq to make Democrats happy. We need to leave Iraq so the whole region can go crazy. We need to leave Iraq to prove that President Bush was 100% wrong. We need to leave Iraq to see if terrorism will follow us home. If terrorism does follow us home we need to leave Iraq so the fighting is on USA streets and not there. The only other reason I can think of is the job that was set out to be accomplished was done. We were not to stay there and establish a government. Yet we stayed. That is called responsibility to others. The USA has this problem, when you invade the enemy you remain behind and rebuild. The USA is the only country on this planet that does this.

usa won't be in a position to - and could no longer - leave Iraq until eventually Dick Cheney has a rock-good, iron-clad affiliation in place to receive all of that OIL swimming below Iraq's sands. With the help of the hot government (which he helped setting up), Cheney and his suited acquaintances at Exxon-Mobil gets richer and richer and richer, inspite of how a lot of human beings die in the technique. If Bush believes we would be out of Iraq with the help of 2009, why is usa development the biggest embassy in the international on a 104-acre internet site in downtown Baghdad, overlooking the modest headquarters of the hot Iraqi government?do no longer youngster your self - we would be there for some years, or until eventually each and every drop of OIL is sucked out of that land. PREDICTION: until eventually now spring, 2007, we will additionally invade Iran for the very comparable reason: all those prosperous fields of extremely-available OIL. The insurgents will turn this right into a Civil conflict until eventually now the tip of this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. They comprehend we are in easy terms there to scouse borrow all their OIL. the only those that don't comprehend the actual certainty is the yank voters who've been brainwashed with the help of Shawn Hannity, Ann Colture, invoice O'Reilly, and Rush Limbaugh, the Republican occasion's very own Nazi-inspired propagandists. -RKO-

The only reasons to leave Iraq would be racist. Simply put, it may be claimed that the lives of Kurds and Arabs are worth much less than ours, so it makes no sense to risk US/Coalition soldiers lives just to secure the freedom of some muslims. If you want a historical parallel, it made no sense to fight the Civil War/ War Between The States- because the lives of black people were worth less than those of the white soldiers...

You agree with that?

Well, it so happens that I do not. I happen to think that all free men are brothers and the freedom of 25 milion Iraquis and another 20 milion Afghans is worth fighting for. Because even if tyranny silences people, there must be someone who will speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. And if there are helpless people in this world, then those of us who are not helpless have a duty to make them free.

Because this country should not be involved in a civil war involving Iraq's different secular parties which is getting our Troops killed and causing the Republicans to squander Billions of dollars there that have been lost, misspent and stolen - that could have been better spent here on Americans!

We should not have been there in the first place!

Because you still can, as it goes on it becomes more politically difficult to justify all the wasted investment and just leave w. not even 1 oil field. Big point 2 is that running out and having to air lift your troops off the roofs of buildings in another 10 years (as happened w. Vietnam) is just too humiliating for the countries psyche and the victims (your soldiers).

We shouldn't the problem lies in American's being brainwashed by our one sided liberal media who doesn't want to show the progress being made. Bottom line is that the car bombings sell news papers functioning communities and rebuilt schools and businesses don't. My sisters fiance is there he sees the truth daily. If we leave Iraq we're stupid we've come too far. And as for the UN dealing with it they don't have the balls!

Because the country is mired in a stone age mentality.
Sort of like trying to install democracy in Haiti.
Neither country can handle it.
