We did George Bush senior fight Iraq over invading Kuwait? I never heard of Kuwait before he sent troops there.

Why haven't we sent our troops to Rwanda and Darfur too? I haven't heard of those places too till they started having problems

It's no big deal if Iraq goes down in defeat. It won't affect me. ( Note: We lost Vietnam and the USA is still here....The Communist didn't come into my town and kill me.)

Any historians out there? I was wondering if the movie "Flags of Our Fathers" was historically accurate regarding the fact that the famous picture (and monument) is actually depicting a second flag-raising and the reason the first flag was taken down? Am I the only one who didn't know this?

The fact that some of these weasel politicians who didn’t have the nerve to oppose the war when they should’ve opposed it, are now jumping ship is an indication of how badly the war is going.

Neoliberalism is the grammar of politics in most parts of the globe and induces an institutionalized apathy. Imaginative, nonviolent guerrilla antiwar actions seem to be the only solution.

y do i want to enlist in the marines
isnt that quite simple

Education and travel
to help people
so that i can do something for my country which has given me so many rights
it is something I always wanted to do
great benefits
a chance to be part of something greater then myself
I want to turn my life around by learning self disipline
a sense of pride and belonging
There's no more noble a fate that a man (or woman) can endure than to put his own mortal body between his beloved home, and it's enemy's desolation
I also want to test myself and see just what I was capable of
adventure aspect is almost irresistable
the really great things in life rarely come easily and the marines is not easy
i want to get out of mom and dads house

to some the military life is stupid or a chance to get killed for me its something greater and i feel the need to enlist. you have the freedom of speech so tell me how stupid i am for what i feel i need to do i dont care ill die for that

http://kucinich.us/

These are the elements of the Kucinich 12-Point Plan for Iraq:

1. The US announces it will end the occupation, close military bases and withdraw.
2. US announces that it will use existing funds to bring the troops and necessary equipment home.
3. Order a simultaneous return of all US contractors to the United States and turn over all contracting work to the Iraqi government.
4. Convene a regional conference for the purpose of developing a security and stabilization force for Iraq.
5. Prepare an international security and peacekeeping force to move in, replacing US troops who then return home.
6. Develop and fund a process of national reconciliation.
7. Reconstruction and Jobs.
8. Reparations.
9. Political Sovereignty.
10. Iraq Economy.
11. Economic Sovereignty.
12. International Truth and Reconciliation.

And our loved ones wouldn't die. Think about that one.

I'm enlisting in the Va ARNG. Is this the best choice? The ARNG site states I will get a 20k enlistment bonus for enlisting as a 31b on top of my drill pay, tuition assistance, and GI Bill benefits. Va also offers a state tuition benefit of up to 3k per year above the federal education benefits. It says I will get "Full medical through Worker's Comp" on the state benefits site @ http://www.1800goguard.com/VA/index.php. What does that mean? Also, I have a GED diploma and 70 college credit hours (will have ~90 at end of semester). Will I go in as E-3?

Would it be a better idea to wait until I graduate to enlist? I know you can go OCS with a B.S. degree but I wanted enlisted experience (and the bonus) first. Do I have the option of going OCS after enlisting? Also, I scored a 93 on the Navy ASVAB, will I have to take the ASVAB again?

Also, the ARNG has a program that will delay deployment for up to 2yrs while you finish school. Would this include graduate school as well? Thanks
