y do i want to enlist in the marines
isnt that quite simple

Education and travel
to help people
so that i can do something for my country which has given me so many rights
it is something I always wanted to do
great benefits
a chance to be part of something greater then myself
I want to turn my life around by learning self disipline
a sense of pride and belonging
There's no more noble a fate that a man (or woman) can endure than to put his own mortal body between his beloved home, and it's enemy's desolation
I also want to test myself and see just what I was capable of
adventure aspect is almost irresistable
the really great things in life rarely come easily and the marines is not easy
i want to get out of mom and dads house

good job. You sound like you really know what you want. Things like this make me proud to be a Marine and an American. Good Luck. Semper Fi!!!!

Those reasons are what I could call the ideal ones. I joined for similar reasons and got an immense sense of pride from my time in the Army.

Don't pay attention to all the liberal answers you got, this isn't really a good place to ask military questions. Some people use it as another forum for spready BS around.

I guess you're not going to listen to talk about the physiological reasons you might be doing this- in terms of advertising and such.

But.... Marines are often on the front line, and if you do join you would be going to the middle east soon, no ifs ands or buts. I would wait until things settle down a little before joining.

your reasons seem on the surface very sound, my only reluctance would be with your branch of choice.USMC are great dont get me wrong but at this present point of time they are truly front line for everything and as for your testing your self etc then this can be switched to all of the other branches equally, I just know of way to many young men that have had major damage done to their knees legs and that's JUST in basic...............

regardless of that, basically if you are over the age of 18 you can do what you wish no matter what the general consensus is

so with that in mind at least LOOK at what the other branches have to offer and take care in any of them.

Lucky it looks to me like you are doing this for many of the right reasons.

If you are planning on enlisting for what you can give, you are on the correct track and it will be the hardest job you ever loved. If, on the other hand, you are enlisting for what you can get it will be the hardest job you ever hated.

US Air Force Master Sergeant (Ret)

Good luck and keep your head and your AS$ down, the enemy will shoot at either one...

It is your choice, who am I to tell you that your noble cause is a product of modern brainwashing techniques. Who am I to tell you that killing for a "nobel" cause is the same as murdering anyone. Who am I to say that you don't want to end your life for some reason.
