Join the Air Force but you can be assigned anywhere and that will be a problem since you will be forced to move out.

It depends on Why you are not allowed to move out of the state. If you can leave the state due to breaking a law you can't join theAF anyway. No felonies, no misdemeanors. You MUST be able to travel. They say GO and you GO. You don't get any say as to where you are stationed. Even reservists and national Guard members leave the state that they enlist in. We are in a war. you will be deployable whether you are Active, reserve or guard!

I do not believe the air force will let you join as a single parent unless you give them a plan for what would happen with your kids in the event you were deployed... I know my sister got married when in order to join the military because they wanted her to give up custody of her son...

Do not enlist.
In order for you to enlist and go to Basic Training, you will have to give custody of your daughter to someone else, at least temporarily.
If your custody agreement says you cannot leave your current state, there is no way for you to serve and abide by the custody agreement.
Single parents in the military have to file a plan for who will care for their dependents if they are deployed. The different services have different names for this plan.
Military life is not conducive to single parenting. You have to decide if you want to serve, or if you want to raise your daughter, becuase you will not be able to do both.
I served in the Navy with a woman who gave custody of her child to her parents to enlist. She saw him maybe twice a year. She ended up having to apply for a hardship discharge after her father developed some serious medical problems and couldn't care for her child anymore.

I am not in the military, but I'd say you've got a dilemna if you have to stay in your state (presumably so the father of your little girl can visit her), because in the Air Force you would likely have to spend lengthy periods out of state.

Joining the Air Force means having to go where you're assigned and following orders. You have to make this decision yourself;it might be for the better.

Talk to a college recruiter not a military one.
The three-time Medal of Honor Marine, Major Gen. Smedley Butler stated: “I spent most of my time being a high-class muscle-man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer; a gangster for capitalism. I suspected I was just part of a racket at the time. Now I am sure of it. Like all the members of the military profession, I never had a thought of my own until I left the service. My mental faculties remained in suspended animation, held in abeyance, while I obeyed the orders of higher-ups. This is typical with everyone in the military service.”
Don't become a fool for Bush, the military who follows his orders, and the capitalist military industrial complex in general.

The military is a good option especially IF you don't have a degree. IF you can't leave the state you're going to have a problem joining up with any branch of the military. If you're in Texas you would be good to go because of basic training is located in that state. Of course you would have to go reserves because the active side would have you leave the state etc... Hope that helps.

well im not in the military, but having had a husband in the military, Maybe you should look into the reserves. That way you get to see what its like.its only a couple weeks a year and one weekend a month, and you dont have to move.then if you really enjoy it, you would always have the option to join full time.

Remember: you may be asked to kill another human being or be part of the chain of command which does. Don't forget that.
