If I were Bush, I would be concerned with my legacy as well. This is his last oppertunity to help this country, and he wants to do it well. Bye!!!

You think President Abraham Lincoln WASN'T greatly concerned with his "legacy" ?? Read his speaches, note his stances... He was WELL aware of what he did would reflect for generations.

Lincoln refused to fold under popular-opinion to STOP the war prior to victory... refused to fold under popular-opinion to keep the black-populace at less than full right... refused to fold under popular-opinion to PUNISH the Confederate States at the end of the war.

"Fondly do we hope, fervently do we pray, that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue, until all the wealth piled by the bondman's two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said "the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether."

President Bush may be almost as unpopular as Lincoln during HIS Presidency... and he may well be as popular 30 - 50 years down the road of history.

I'm not sure what makes you think he is so concerned, in fact he's said he doesn't dwell on it at all.

He does not care about anyone or their opinions, except his own.
