Law Enforcement & Police - November 2007

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Law Enforcement & Police

There are some bad cops, just like there are bad people in all professions but the vast majority are hard working and honest. Local police help to keep our society civil. There are a lot of black on black murders in Philly. There are a lot of domestic disputes that result in murder. Each has it's own problems and solutions. But shoot a cop? Ohmygod! Unless we want anarchy, citizens should be outraged. What do you think?

Here's the facts:
1) I was pulled over for not having front plates, arrested for having a suspended license (not paying a ticket), police office searched my car and found 10 grams of cocaine, I admitted it was mine
2) Was booked into Snohomish County Jail (Washington State), bail was $5,000, I was released the next day by the judge (I believe I was PR'd which I believe means Pre-Trial Release)
3) I believe I was release because it was the first time I've ever been in trouble with the law, they contacted my parents to make sure I could stay there, and I was employed Full-Time

If you could please just give me some resources (websites, books, videos, phone numbers) I would appreciate it. I know I made a mistake, but I am ready to face the consequences I just don't know anything about getting arrested, going to court, drug charges... ANYTHING... I just want to know if there's anything I can do to help my case, or if I can actually count on my clean record to help...

DON'T DO DRUGS

Some people feel that they have the right to exact revenge on certain type of criminals due to the nature of the crime even if or their families were not a victim. However why is that few people who commit vigilante justice dont target gangsters and officers who have commited heinous crimes such as murder.

In Minnesota, what are the possible ramifications including charges, citations, fines, penalties, etc. The accident report was sent to the State. I was injured but not the other party. I can't explain what happened because I was knocked out. However, I did admit guilt to the police and said something about trying to stop and not being able to. I also think (vaguely) that while crossing the intersection, I thought someone would hit me so I accerated to miss the car. It then appeared that I was going at a higher speed. (This is a 35 mile/hour street).
I have never had a ticket or caused an accident and have been driving for 32 years). No alcohol.
I am relieved that the other person was not hurt but don't have a CLUE what might happen when the report comes back! If you have experience in the legal field, or experienced something similar, could you please respond? Thank you.

In July this year a council tenant has taken away my paper rubbish bag without asking my permission ? The tenant said she placed the paper rubbish in her attic ! ! I saw the tenant taking another bag into her house and I become suspicious. I informed the Police; Local Housing Office & Local Neighbourhood Warden (he said she admits to taking one bag) It was not until October this year that I got an opportunity to see a Housing Officer with N/Warden. H/Officer said she could not help me as I have not disclosed evidence of offence of stealing rubbish. In October the offending neighbour was seen by myself wearing a yellow jacket and holding a see through city council rubbish bag parading up and down in front of my home in a manner that I can only describe as doing a cat walk - rumour is this woman visits city council offices delivering bundles of papers ! !

Is there any kind of counseling for correction officers in the prison system who treats his wife like an inmate. He was a wonderful person until he got this job. He recently started SRT training and thinks he's the man. He comes home and tries to practice his moves on family members. He is 22 years old and has worked at the prison for 3 years.

Do I have to tell the cop if I have it in there, even if he doesn't ask during a traffic stop?

2007-11-02 13:26:48 · 7 answers · asked by Anonymous

Isn't "reasonable suspicion" just another level of probable cause? I mean you have probable cause to search which is less than probable cause for an arrest, so why don't we just call "reasonable suspicon" probable cause which is less than the probable cause needed to search? It's just another level to describe the amount of evidence needed to justify an action, and in this case, evidence that's less than the evidence needed to search, right? So it would look like this:

prob. cause --> temp. detention --> prob. cause --> search --> prob. cause --> arrest.

Or am I missing something?

I am thinking about applying to become a cop. I would love to do detective work eventually but know you have to work as a cop first. Any thoughts/opinions on this line of work? I would be leaving the private sector of banking.

You know, that guy who brutally murders his family, a group of fast food employees during a botched robbery, or tortures a family before murdering them probably shouldn't have taxpayers pay for their housing and food. What's the sense in keeping these people alive for life, with free healthcare and everything? They're certainly never going to be reformed.

Why aren't these people just executed?

hunting, fishing, & cars. He is a very good family man, provides for his family, hard worker, participates in daughter's activities like band, volunteers in what he can. First time my family deals with this sort of thing & we don't know what will go on and what if the atty we hired is good or not. Does any one know on how to check out attys; there experiences w/criminal law..etc...?? Never had need for any kind of attys. In other words, we are so green in this dept., if u know what I mean. Federal prosecutor says he might do a long time in prison. That scares us alot. He has a wife an a daughter that are so worried. The wife had to be under doctors supervision & meds. I would appreciate very much if anyone had had an experience like this or if there is an atty out there that might tell me the outcome. We are very worried. All of your help needed. :) My pre-thanks

I'm really upset. I've lived in this apartment complex in a relatively nice neighborhood for almost twenty years so I've at least seen most of the people who live here. I see postal and delivery people leave stuff at people's doors all the time when they're not home to pick it up and I can't even imagine just taking people's stuff like that.

I think it's totally shady and immoral that these people would steal from their own neighbors like that. The package was an expensive watch that was left at my door when I wasn't home. I'm just so peeved right now.

What can i do?

I was taught that if you get in a car accident with a police officer, you are always at fault, even if it was really the officer's fault. Is this true? Please back up your answers with real experiences or documentation if possible. Thanks.
