I'm really upset. I've lived in this apartment complex in a relatively nice neighborhood for almost twenty years so I've at least seen most of the people who live here. I see postal and delivery people leave stuff at people's doors all the time when they're not home to pick it up and I can't even imagine just taking people's stuff like that.

I think it's totally shady and immoral that these people would steal from their own neighbors like that. The package was an expensive watch that was left at my door when I wasn't home. I'm just so peeved right now.

What can i do?

L0v3: I didn't "leave" it out in the open. It was dropped off when i wasn't home and i checked to make sure it was indeed there originally. Try reading the question next time. DUH.

Leave a mean note on your door. Or scream and let everyone here you...
OR, do what Pee Wee did: post a $100,000 reward, and then when you get your stuff back, dont give them the money. Hey, whoever has it, obviously took it, and therefore, they dont deserve an award!

Everything everyone else said but stef.

Do NOT use UPS! I'm sure UPS is supposed to never leave a package when someone's not home, but I had an expensive giant Star Wars lego Christmas present left on my patio once - and a sticker on my door announcing that a package had been left on the patio. It was a miracle that it was still there when I got home from work! After asking around, I found out that they do this a lot!

In addition, pick up centers in my area close at 6pm weekdays (or earlier!) and are not open weekends. I'm not about to waste my tiny amount of vacation time to pick up a package. UPS is a bad option for working people. I will never use UPS again, nor purchase from any company that uses them.

Packages "disappear" from our complex all of the time from the new tenants who don't know better. I purchased a PO Box from the post office and all of my packages are delivered there. And where I'm from, the post office doesn't deliver packages to apartment complexes, they put a little slip in your mailbox for you to come get it.

So for now, file a claim with the delivery service and the company you bought from. Avoid UPS and consider getting a PO box if your local post office leaves packages around.

contact the agency that transported the watch, usps, fedex, ups. contact the company you bought it from. was it insured by the sender? did you insure it? if it was you will be able to recover the dollar amount or have them replace the item it depends on what the policy is. are you certain it was delivered and stolen off the door step? if not it may have never been mailed or stolen by the carrier. the reporting will allow all involved to investigate and establish just how, when and to an extent where the item was stolen. FYI if it was usps and it was insured you may be entitled to reimbursement of the postage in addition to the value of the item. look at their website and make a copy of what it says if it pertains to your circumstance. i had to make a claim before and they did not give me the postage back so i had to go back with the text from their website to prove they were wrong.

ok first go to the front office, ask them if they may have got the package.it's common sense to leave a delivery tag on your door, and drop it off either to a neighbor or in your case the front office. Also ask a neighbor about it

if you have a tracking # try to track it to double check your package.Call customer service of the carrier the package was sent, soory to hear that. Fed Ex lost a package of mine and got it back 6 months later

Report it to your local PD....and the postal office if that's who it came through. That's about all you can do. If it's through a service such as UPS, in the future, you can sometimes give them special delivery instructions, so that they won't just leave it.

If it was expensive though, a lot of delivery services need a signature before they can just leave the package.

Report it to the nearest police station. Next hook up camera outside your door. If it happens once it may happen again. Watch your teenage neighbors some of them have drug problems that they parents don't know about.

If you have a supision of who did it you have something to work with.
If you have no idea forget it.
If any one of your neibours have seen any thing, you have some thing to go on.
If you can reach a suspect, no problem.
When you are sure, their knee caps can be easely removed and you will get your watch back.
But make sure you have the right person!
