hunting, fishing, & cars. He is a very good family man, provides for his family, hard worker, participates in daughter's activities like band, volunteers in what he can. First time my family deals with this sort of thing & we don't know what will go on and what if the atty we hired is good or not. Does any one know on how to check out attys; there experiences w/criminal law..etc...?? Never had need for any kind of attys. In other words, we are so green in this dept., if u know what I mean. Federal prosecutor says he might do a long time in prison. That scares us alot. He has a wife an a daughter that are so worried. The wife had to be under doctors supervision & meds. I would appreciate very much if anyone had had an experience like this or if there is an atty out there that might tell me the outcome. We are very worried. All of your help needed. :) My pre-thanks

There are a lot of "first time" felons in jail. Sounds like he sold or bought a full automatic weapon. If it is a Government owned weapon, he will probably go to jail. He may be lucky and just get a VERY high fine. A friend of mine in Ohio sold an M-14 but luckily "gave" the buyer the selector switch seperately, to convert to full auto. He got $2000 fine and 5 years probation. That felony also stopped him from ever owning a firearm again.
