Is there any kind of counseling for correction officers in the prison system who treats his wife like an inmate. He was a wonderful person until he got this job. He recently started SRT training and thinks he's the man. He comes home and tries to practice his moves on family members. He is 22 years old and has worked at the prison for 3 years.

you should take him to counseling and tell him you aren't prisoner 1589462, you're his wife. and he needs to start treating you that way otherwise you may have to escape your prison.

Yes, there is counseling for job stress related issues - I am sure that 'wonderful person' is still there - 19 is a young age to begin a career looking after inmates. What does 'moves' mean ? Are you isolated ? Does your day feel disrupted when 'wonderful person' comes home after working in a disfunctional environment ? Sometimes, after work, its not possible to leave that environment behind - 'wonderful person' seems to be using home as a place to unwind and play act his feelings about the workplace - that not your fault at all. It's nobody's fault. You are bewildered and cross, and it isn't yours and anybody else's fault. Don't feel guilty. Are there other correction officer wives who experience the same behaviour from their husbands outside of work ? Look for ways to find out without prying too much. You might start with a statement :-

'...somebody I know well is having trouble with their husband play acting at home like he's at work...'

I would hope for the family's sake you find help. My cousin was in this situation. He would come home and basically treat her and the 2 boys like a prisoner. It had a tragic ending. One of the boys at age 14 shot and killed him. The boy had enough of the abuse(all kinds) and snapped. The abuse was proven in court. He was sentenced to juvenile retentiion center until he was 18 and put on Probation for 10 years. He still has problems and sees a therapist regularly.

CO's think they're the last coke in the desert. They also mistreat inmates families' , but one thing for sure "You can be at the very top today and suddenly slide down all the way to the bottom". Then they will get it!!! WHAT goes around comes around

Tell him to knock it off.

If someone gets injured, guess what?
At the hospital you would have to say
my Husband did it.
Because he did.

He would be in Big trouble, and could
lose his children, and his Job.

He can ask to get together with
Co- workers and practice
tactical techniques.
