You car was TOWED because you wrecked and left it there. You now have to go to the Police Department with the vehicle information and inquire about its whereabouts. Have fun explaining that you were drunk and left the scene.

It's time for him to man up. He needs to go to the police and ask. I mean right flippin NOW!
A normal person would be freaking out as to where their car is so they would call immediately as he has nothing to hide. He hit a curb, it was dark, swereved to miss a deer or whatever. He didn't have money for a tow and figured he would deal w. it in the morning. Checked for car and is now worried about if it was stolen or something from the side of the road. The police may just say whatever....... your vehicle was towed.
Waiting implies some sort of guilt. They can make is much worse if they want to. DWI would not be one of them but leaving the scene could. But even if charged he would have the defense that HE called the police not the other way around. And as another said....... everyday that car sits there will add up to big bucks. Eventually someone will come looking for him.
Call him and tell him to call right now.

He has to report it missing to the police anyway. He can give any reason at all that it was in the ditch, eg an animal ran into the road in front of him and he swerved to avoid it. He can reasonably say he left it until he could get a tow truck next day to collect it but when he went back it had gone. It was possibly impounded by the police anyway but if not he needs the police report to claim insurance if he has any.

Most likely the police have his car in impound, and he will be in trouble for leaving the scene of an accident! Hopefully he has a good reason for being in the ditch in the first place!

Sure he is. It was dumb to leave the scene of the accident and to leave the car there.
Was it towed by the police? Was it stolen by the bad guys? What happened to it ?
Tell your friend to own up to his mistake. Call the police and report he accident and the fact that the car is gone now. They can help him.
cheers.

well if your friend just woke up, and found the car gone, he reported it to the police the car must have been stolen, then the police will run a check on it, and find out it has been towed, then he will have to pay tow charges, but it is a lot cheaper than a drunk driving ticket,.....

The police had it towed. He should contact the police department where the incident happened. The longer he waits, the more expensive it will be to get his car back. Impound fees are outrageous!

would have been worse, Teddy Kennedy left a woman in his automobile to drown whilst he ran it off the line. and then he ran away to pass sleep it off in the previous even calling the police. So with a bit of luck it extremely is a miles less costly lesson so which you would be able to no longer drink.

He should call the station and tell them what happened, and that he left it there until he could call for a tow.
