What happened last night was that I was walking out of the train station to walk the 2 blocks to my home. I noticed about 3 guys standing on the corner. I got a phone call and was talking on the phone down the block. I heard someone say "let's get his phone" and the 3 guys charged after me. They knocked me down causing the phone to fly out of my hand and one guy was holding me to the ground. I keep a small pocket knife in my pocket which came HANDY in this sitaution as I was able to reach in my pocket with my arm, take out the knife, and I swung it at the guy's arm. I scraped his arm with the knife and he shouts "the guy's got a knife!". When he let go of me I swung at him with the knife across the face and he fell to the ground. They dropped my phone and ran off. i walked away with the knife and phone and left the guy on the sidewalk.

I said NOTHING. Didn't report anything in. Am I REQUIRED to or is it best to lay low and never mention it? I defended myself justly.

My ex is $4000 in arrears on child support for our little girl, this is a year of not paying. He had a court date on Wednesday and did not appear because the police were not able to serve him with the court papers because he moved from his residence. He did not report his new address to child support either. They called me and told me they were having a bench warrant issued. Child support tried to call him at his mom's number which I gave her. This was his last chance. His mom lied and said she didn't know where he was. So now that the warrant has been issued, what will happen? Will the police go to his house? They know where he lives. Or will they just wait and pick him up if he gets stopped for a traffic violation? He also has his DL revoked due to 2 owi's and 1 driving after rev after the second owi. Please answer, I live in WI if anyone knows WI law. Thanks.

He was arrested for a fight, and initially charged with aggravated assault and weapon possession (knife). During probation, they gave him a urine test and found evidence of using perscription painkillers which he didn't have a perscription for. However, he completed a Pre Trial Intervention program and it resulted in a dismissal. Our father was also a Police Officer who died in the line of duty. Will they overlook these issues and is there a possibility of hiring him?

Also, what occurs during a police background check? Do they interview people, to include the person who he was in the fight with? Do they interview his family?

Can they search all parts of your vehicle? Can they search you and your passenger? If so, how extensively? Can they legally search your luggage, the passenger's plastic bag and your moms locked box? Can the police seize the property found in the vehicle?

I'm already reviewing the process to get a CCW (concealed carry weapons permit) and I do have valid reasons to carry one. I'm just wondering, in the meantime, what is the best way to keep my firearm in my vehicle? I think it's legal to carry it in the original case, unloaded, but i can't find any good references online regarding this issue. If anyone can help me with information and links, i would be grateful. Thank you.

Is that true? Can't they photograph the prints that were found on the dusty surface and use them that way? Is this just a case of the police not caring and not wanting to spend the time since it was just a robbery?

They basically didn't take any prints of anything.

I am currently going through the process with a law enforcement agency. I have done very well and passed all tests thus far. However, I recently (Tuesday evening) had a polygraph and failed ONE question having to do with illegal gambling. I've heard a million answers of whether I've passed or failed. They said they'd let me know - I have not heard ANYTHING from the Police Department (it's now Friday!). I have a test (BAT) scheduled at 8:00 in the morning! My papers say not to contact them. Should I call or email?? Will it be better to just wait? Is it a good sign that I haven't heard yet or bad news? I'm sooo confused!! Experienced answers please.......

1. I entered the bar, was inside for 2 mins, none of my friends were there, so I l turned right back around, got in the vehicle and left. 0 alcohol
2. After driving more than three miles I am pulled over by an officer that I recognized, but did not recognize me at first.
3. He rudley told me to get out of the vehicle, and gave me the 'pen' test. As I told him who I was and who my family was (can't blame me for that, the guy was treating me like crap).
4. He got even angrier and had me Call someone to come get me.
5. SO, if he suspected I was drunk driving as I walked from the bar to my vehicle, why not stop me as soon as I hit the public road, not 3 miles down the road where a legitmate drunk driver could potentialy hit somebody and kill them while the polive officer watched?

This explanation provided to accomodate answers like the one provided by Domino in "Police unfair to citizens leaving Bars' posted earlier.

Can anyone point me to the right site to find the laws about having a very small bonfire on a long stretch of beach, miles from any houses? (more of a campfire)
I'm hoping I can get a few friends together to have a small bonfire on guy fawkes night - we have some small fountain fireworks too but I dont want to end up being the cause of wasting firemens time, so I wondered if it's illegal here in Scotland? I dont know where to start looking, so any pointers would be much appreciated.
By the way, we're a group of young adults with no intention of causing any kind of bother to anyone... the location is well out of the way and probably no one will see us anyway but I'd be mortified if we were given a talking to by angry firemen.

A friend got a dui charge, I was riding with him that day.

He has been trying to get me to contact his lawyer/investigator but I was really drunk and don't remember the night well.

Do I still have to talk to his lawyer?

I was cited for an excessive speed in Arizona on I 40E while going from Las vegas to Grand Canyon.
I was given ARS, Criminal traffic citation. I am a resident of California. I while going and get a Criminal Traffic citation.
The speed posted in the highway is 75mph. I was cited for excessive speed of 92mph. This is happened in the following situation?
There are couple of trucks on the right side of the road. I was driving in the left lane and would like to pass all the trucks,
I speed up and passed all the trucks. The road is on down hill, which resulted in pick up the more speed by the time I cross all vehicles.
I reduced the speed after I passed all the trucks. Cop has given me the paper work and told me I can attend the court If I disagree.
I live in California. I'd like to say that I am not guilty and appear in the court. As the court is not located in Bay area how can I do this option?
WHat's the best way for me to get rid of the points? Please advise

Earlier today, my cell phone was stolen. I was at a Halloween store looking for costumes (they were half-off!). As soon as I realized that my phone was missing, I back-tracked the whole store and could not find it. I reported it stolen to the manager and also reported it stolen to my phone company and deactivated it. When I left the store, I realized that the two woman that were helping me at the fitting rooms were most likely the ones who stole my phone!!

When I talked to the manager, she said that earlier this week, she had another stolen cell phone incident and those two girls were accused, but nothing was ever found. My sister was with me at the time, and we are both PRETTY SURE it was them. The manager said she would talk to the two girls.

Is it too late for me to file a police report? I figured, it's just a cell phone and the store is only a seasonal store, so the police probably won't do much. But they did have security cameras and IM PRETTY SURE I KNOW WHO DID IT!
