police helicopter is circling my neighborhood, how can I find out why?

Call Police non emergency. If it's not on a need to know basis, they should tell you.

Best thing to do is make sure your doors and windows are locked, outside lights are on and stay away from windows. Might want to turn off lights inside, too, if you don't have drapes of blinds to block anyone from outside seeing in.

As one person said, you can try calling the non-emergency number but it isn't often they give the information out to anyone. Personally I don't recommend doing that because most of the time, the Radio Room is busy enough without people calling in for things like this.

More than likely, one of your neighbors is up to something illeagal; drug lab, pot farm, etc. I wouldn't bother calling the police because they won't tell you why. Just be thankful you have such a good police force protecting you.

Go to Radio Shack and ask for a scanner, if they still have police scanners available to the public. I think many of them try to hide their channels somehow.
